"Rent" contains feature roles for 5 men and 3 women, ages 16 and up, as well as an ensemble of men and women ages 16 and up. Performances are July 13-Aug. 5, 2012. "Rent" is directed and music directed by Jeremy Randall, with choreography by Alison Shafer.

Set in NYC's East Village, "Rent" follows the lives of a group of friends as they search for success in life and love while battling drug addictions, AIDS, and, of course, paying the rent. "Rent" is a pop culture phenomenon about falling in love, finding your voice, and living for today.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
