LOCATION: Deering Memorial Community Center, 39 Main St., South Paris, Maine

AUDITION: Cold readings from the script. Optional: prepare a short monologue (no more than one minute) from a published play that you feel helps show a depth of emotion. Please bring any known rehearsal conflicts.

REHEARSALS: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. No weekends expected until production week.

PERFORMANCE DATES: June 20, 21, 22 & 28, 29 at 7:30 p.m. and June 23 & 30 at 2:00 p.m., on the OHMPAA stage at the Norway Grange, 15 Whitman St. Norway, Maine

AVAILABLE ROLES

Ernie Donahue: Union VP, married to Marie, father of Jake. Age 45–60ish. Ernie has lived in the same town his whole life, where he married and remains in love with his high school sweetheart. He has become frustrated with the strike, and opts to stay home and care for Marie and work on the ark he’s building in the yard.

Marie Donahue: Married to Ernie, mother of Jake. Age 45–60ish. Although frail from suffering with a life-threatening cancer, Marie is secure in who she is. She is deeply devoted to her family, loves her town, wants her husband to go back to work and has a strong sense of right.

Jake Donahue: Only son of Ernie and Marie. Age: early to mid 20s. Jake is married with a baby. Jake is proud, (trying to) have a mind of his own and is struggling to find work to support his family during the strike.

Nancy Letourneau: Family friend of the Donahues, wife of the union president. Age: 45–60ish. Nancy is a retired home health care nurse returned to work to support her family during the strike.

Henry McCoy: The CEO of Atlantic Paper. Age 50–60ish. Henry is a NYC businessman who made his way to the top through talent, grit and determination. Strategic and a risk-taker, Henry cares immensely about the reputation and quality of his business.

Emily McCoy: Daughter of Henry. Age: early to mid-20s. Emily is a college student struggling to find herself. Desperate to develop a relationship with her father, she has taken an interest in the mill, but more importantly in the strike and her father’s role in how the strike is impacting the workers.
