Fresh off a highly successful Broadway revival, PRESENT LAUGHTER is one of Noël Coward’s funniest and most delightful comedies. Devastatingly handsome and thoroughly charming, matinee idol Garry Essendine sits at the center of his own universe. While he struggles to plan his upcoming trip to Africa, his elegant New York apartment is invaded by a love struck ingénue, an adulterous producer and a married seductress, not to mention Garry’s estranged wife and a crazed young playwright. Just before Garry escapes, the full extent of his misdemeanors is discovered.

All roles are open
Daphne Stillington: A young ingénue smitten with Garry Essendine, 21.
Miss Erikson: Garry’s Swedish Housekeeper – may be of any age between early 30’s and mid-60s.
Fred: Garry’s valet. A smart dresser. A sharp tongue. British. – mid-30’s to mid-50’s.
Monica Reed: Garry’s personal secretary. An austere woman in her early 40’s.
Garry Essendine: On the wrong side of 40. A charming leading actor of the stage at the edge of his prime. Denying his admittance to middle age. Amorously and socially ruthless. (Ability to play the piano is a plus but not required.)
Liz Essendine: Garry’s (nearly) ex-wife. Having been married to Garry, she holds her own in any situation. 30’s
Roland Maule: An earnest young playwright, 25.
Morris Dixon: Vibrant. Tall. Handsome. Grey just touching his temples. Late 30’s.
Hugo Lyppiatt: Dapper. Neat. Early 40’s.
Joanna Lyppiatt: An exquisitely attractive woman. Assured and considerably charming. Early 30’s.
Lady Saltburn: Majestic and effusive society woman. Daphne’s Aunt. 40’s to 60’s.
