Playwrights Showcase 201?8, Players Guild of Leonia - Six short, one-act plays by local playwrights is casting for multiple female and male roles, ages 20's -70's. There are comedies, dramas and others that are simply lovely ?slices of life. Directors will have you read from the scripts, no prepared pieces needed. All casting is open, you do not have to be a Players Guild member to Audition*. Our 6 shows for PS 201?8? are --

The Army Dance, by ?Cary Gitter, Directed by ?Matthew Blum - A young soldier, far away from home, meets a young woman at a USO-type dance?. 1955. (Realistic)

?[2 M, 1 F, All 20's] ?Simon?,? M?, 20's - A new private in the U.S. Army. Betsy, ?F?, 20's- A recent college graduate. Speaks with a Southern accent. Benjamin, M?, 20's - Speaks with a Southern accent.

?The Lilac Ticket, by C.J. Ehrlich, Directed by Helene Marshall? - ?S?am and Barb confront ?2 crises threatening their 50-year marriage: one happening now, in the doctor’s office, the other, a long-buried secret. (Comedy, Slice of Life)


[1 M, 1 F, 60’s+] Sam and Barb, 70’s, fairly healthy, but with typical decline of vision, slower movement and aches and pains. They lead a simple life, but are mentally “with it.”



TIMESHARE?, by Judy Klass, Directed by Annette Lenge? - An ex-couple briefly reunite to work out post-relationship details with unexpected results. (Comedy)

[1 F, 1M, Both 20’S-40’S] Nancy - unpretentious, smart, sense of humor, sometimes simultaneously amused and annoyed by Rob. Rob - Sardonic, charming, ultimately a pretty good guy.


Blind Magic, by Brianna Keller, Directed by Nicole Parente - Two long-time female friends discuss an upcoming blind date. A few twists and turns all lead to . . . (Comedy).

The Rally, by Stewart Hanley, Directed by Robert Klein - ?A long-married couple, active in conservative politics, receive life altering news. (Comedy).

[1 F, 1 M, 40’s-60’s] Jerry, Middle-aged “White” Male, Blue Collar Supervisor Type. Becky, Middle-aged “White” Female, Stay-at-home wife Type.

Obituary, by John Kiely, Directed by Suzanne Renaud - Two estranged brothers, who have taken very different paths in life, meet to write the obituary for their mom's funeral. (Realistic)?. ?

[2 M, 30’s-50’s] Richard, M, conservative in life. Been taking care of his mother the past few years. Robert/Roberta, M, Outgoing, now Transitioning to Roberta.
