OLD JEWS TELLING JOKES - Downstairs Cabaret Theatre
Downstairs Cabaret Theatre is holding auditions for understudies, covers, and replacement actors in OLD JEWS TELLING JOKES, for performances in the month of April (Thursdays through Sundays at 3450 Winton Place, Rochester). Auditions will be scheduled by appointment only from resumes and photos submitted in advance. Rehearsals will be scheduled based on cast availability. Rehearsal / learning fee and performance stipend. Actors will be asked to read from the script for their audition. Characters:

MORTY: 60 - 70 years old. There's something sweet about him, even though he can be a tad devilish. He's as sunny as an Old Jew can get. And he probably knows every long, funny story in Jewish comedy history.
NATHAN: 60-70 years old. Probably looked 60 when he was 40. Or even 30. He sees the down side to anything and will react in the appropriately grumpy way. He also sees the deeply funny side to life - and it's his saving grace. He probably knows every one-liner in comedy history.
BUNNY: 60ish. Brassy and tough. You get the feeling she can take everyone else in this show in a fair fight, be it verbal or physical. She's probably been widowed 3 times and is willing to go another round or two.
REUBEN: 30-40 years old. A little rumpled. Has a certain hipness to him, which makes for a good balance with his schlemiel half. Can’t quite tell whether everything amuses him or depresses him.
DEBBI: 30ish. Attractive, a bit ditsy, but very sharp.
