Note: Characters that are Napolitan born should have some accent.

Paolo:

Lead (60) ( Tenor or Baritone.) - A journalist/ CIA operative. Napolitan born. (slight accent). Romantic lead with some comedic overtones. A younger Giancarlo Giannini could do this. Or Marcello Mastroianni.

Concierge:

Lead - (also plays Pulcinella) - 65 - Baritone. Comedic role: Akim Tamiroff or Zero Mostel-like character (Not necessarily in size). A wise-cracking and charming survivor. Cunning. Street smart.

Concetta:

Lead - (50 ish) Soprano. A Nun. Comedic role. Gilda Radner could have done this. Passionate. Ready to hit the barricades at the drop of a hat. In the end, good hearted.

Madeleine:

(50) - Journalist. A Lauren Bacall kind of sarcasm. Attractive. Unlucky in love. Doubles as Hillary Clinton.

John:

(55) - Journalist. Button down collar type. Conservative in his politics. Wry sense of humor.

Obama:

55 - Baritone. Comedic role. Eddie Murphy could do this. Sincere rhetoritician. Sells boxes of N.Y. air.

Ciro:

55 - Mafia Don. Napolitan. Comedic. Threatening. But with fuzzy insides. Peter Lorre could have done this.

Lorenzo:

25-27 - Tenor. Napolitan. Romantic. Smart but self pitying. Frustrated with life. Adjunct Professor.

Maria:

23 - 25 - Soprano. Beautiful. Napolitan born. An optimist, but a realist, not too Pollyannaish.

Gennarino:

Comedic Politician. As good or as bad as any politician but bumbling. Another Akim Tamiroff kind of character. Things are always getting away from him. Puts a happy face on the worst disasters.
