KINKY BOOTS / 1776 - Theatre Tulsa

Theatre Tulsa has announced that it will hold multiple auditions in September for its upcoming musicals ‘Kinky Boots” and “1776.”

The “Kinky Boots” auditions will be for drag queens for the lead role of Lola, as well as the supporting roles of The Angels. The auditions will be held from 2-4pm at Theatre Tulsa’s rehearsal studio at 3524 E 51st St. in midtown Tulsa.

For the “1776” auditions, Theatre Tulsa is specifically seeking female, female-identifying, gender-fluid, and non-binary performers for all major roles. The 1776 auditions will be held in multiple locations. An audition on Sept. 15 at 6-9pm will be at Tulsa Dream Center, 200 W 46th St N, and a second audition will be held Sept. 17 at 2-6:30pm at Overture Musical Theatre, 5147 S Harvard Ave.

The auditions will feature vocal auditions and a group dance call.

Auditioners are asked to prepare 32 bars of a song from a similar musical. A dance call will be at the end of each audition block, in which the choreographer will teach a short dance combination from the show.

Theatre Tulsa’s production of “1776” will be Jan. 13-29, 2023. The production of “Kinky Boots” will be April 28 through May 7, 2023. Both shows will perform at The Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
