KALETA: A WEST AFRICAN CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL - The Rose Theater

“Kaleta: A West African Children’s Festival” Audition To Be Held at The Rose Theater

“Kaleta: A West African Children’s Festival” is being produced by The Rose Theater’s Teens ‘N’ Theater program through a partnership with African Culture Connection. An audition will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 14th at The Rose Theater, 2001 Farnam Street. Teens who have not yet graduated from high school are welcome to audition.

The audition process will include the demonstration of several abilities. Teens will be asked to play traditional African instruments such as bells, shakers, and drums; use a talking drum; and sing a simple “call and response” song while performing basic African movements.

This exciting show features traditional African dance and is based on the tale of a young boy from Benin, West Africa, who falls asleep and dreams of “kaleta” - dancers

African Children’s Festival” will be offered Oct. 25-28 in The Rose’s Hitchcock Theater.
