ISLE OF INIQUITY - Staged Reading

TO WHOM IT MAY INTEREST: I am the sole creator of a musical satire titled ISLE OF INIQUITY, and I am organizing a professional reading of the show in Manhattan on a Monday in late Feb or early March 2013. To learn about the show, go to my site: www.jamesjohnsonmusic.net > ISLE OF INIQUITY > read/listen.

If you are interested, please read all below, and then send me your resume, head shot, and one or more mp3 clips of your singing, preferably in a live staged context. I am hoping this event will come together, but no guarantees until I can confirm the required resources by early 2013 latest. As for payment, for the six principals I expect $1000. each, not much but not so much work either. The book, scores in PDF and mp3 audios of the songs can all be sent in email right away, so the readers will have lots of time to prepare at their leisure. I don't anticipate any rehearsing before the day of the reading, but perhaps. The likely location is a fine small auditorium in midtown, and we will have the space all day, with the reading planned to begin about 6PM and ending at 10PM latest. All will be recorded to DVD, hence the four hours for a show that runs 2:30 in case we need to do some spots afterwards. The SIbelius files, as heard on my site, will serve as the orchestra, very effective and efficient. Relevant to this upcoming project: in March 30, 2009 I managed to organize a highly successful -- lots of laughs -- but not very professional reading in Key West. The players, a couple of them very talented, had all been complete strangers to me before I arrived in late Feb, and nobody except the recording engineer was paid anything. The show mostly took shape while I lived in Key West in the 90s - that was fun. I am the sole copyright claimant, period. Some very talented actors have already applied to participate, and two of the six principal parts are already firmly committed, perhaps two others. In addition I will need 6-8 others, at least half of them men, to read the side parts, some of which only appear in one scene, so one reader can double for those.
