Seeking actors and strong pop/rock singers 18-30 of all races, genders, body types and other identities. All roles are non-union and unpaid. Black or POC actors are especially encouraged to attend.

3. Prepare to sing a song from the show. We will be using pre-created tracks. You can find the exact audition cuts here:

4. Time permitting, you may be asked to read from the script or sing an additional song. You will NOT be required to dance for this audition.
Please register for the audition. All performers will be seen on a first come first serve basis.

– CHARACTER BREAKDOWN –
In some instances, roles were created for actors of a specific ethnicity. In these cases, it is noted in the character description:
DIONNE (Soul/Rock Alto/Mezzo Belt) Female-identifying
Energetic and fun. Warm and compassionate. A strong presence with a sense of justice, passion, spirit and heart. A true tone setter that is a natural in any situation. Black or POC actors only, please.
BERGER (Rock Baritone/Tenor) Male-identifying.
Berger is a bit of a showman, corralling the others to do what he wants. He likes to lead the Tribe in various anti-establishment pursuits such as protests, drug use and going against the expectation of society during this era. Unrestrained. High energy, athletic, and wild with undeniable sex appeal. Any ethnicity.
WOOF (Rock Baritone/Tenor) Male-identifying.
Good looking, masculine boy with an androgynous quality. A free-love nature freak. He is truly in love with Mick Jagger (perhaps secretly in love with Berger). High energy, versatile and natural with comedy. Looks up to Berger and Mick Jagger. Any ethnicity.
HUD (Soul/Rock Baritone/Tenor) Male-identifying
Both intellectual and street hip, Hud scans the New York Times and is the pulse of the East Village. Speaks his mind and never bites his tongue. Black or POC actors only, please.
CLAUDE (Rock Baritone/Tenor) Male-identifying.
Smart, with a playful side; a lover of life, he’s the guy next door of the 60’s. Berger’s best friend. A charismatic leader that people adore. A man of conscience who struggles with the conflict of what his heart tells him is right and what the authority figures around him lead him to believe. Recently received his draft card. Any ethnicity. NOTE: Actor must have short hair or be willing to cut their hair.
SHEILA (Rock Alto/Belter) Female-identifying.
A student and passionate protester from NYU who aspires to spread love. The most intelligent of the Tribe. Wants to change society through peaceful protest. She’s in love with Berger, and Claude is in love with her. Any ethnicity.
JEANIE (Alto) Female-identifying.
Incredibly sweet, a caretaker for the Tribe, and understands Claude better than anyone. Wise, passionate, creative woman, who is pregnant. Any ethnicity.
CRISSY (Mezzo Soprano) Female-identifying.
A young lovelorn flower child. The youngest member of the Tribe. Loves the idea of the Tribe, her new chosen family. Any ethnicity.
TRIBE ENSEMBLE
We’re looking for individuals of many cultures representing the wide array of people who participated in the “Hippie” movement of the 1960’s. The Tribe represents one of the most concentrated countercultures of American society. All actors will be on stage for the majority of the show and will be highly integrated into each sequence. All types.
