HELEN MIRREN TAKES A DAY OFF - Pace University School of Performing Arts

We will be creating a live capture theatre production, showcasing work from the Pace Performing Arts 2021 Directing class. This is a low budget student project with minimal compensation.

PROJECT SYNOPSIS: After taking unsatisfied work calls and receiving news that her dog, Fifi, has come down with a fatal illness, Helen is forced to reevaluate what she prioritizes and values most in her life.

SEEKING:

NOTE: ‘Helen Mirren Takes A Day Off’ is inspired by legendary British actress Helen Mirren, but most to all events in the play are fictional. While Helen is currently a White woman of 75 years, we are seeking cis and transgender women of any age, prioritizing BIPOC actors. Seeking non-union, non-AEA talent only!

HELEN - female, late 20s - 70s. Upon first meeting, she may see intimidating with a strong and demanding demeanor but this is definitely earned. She has spent her entire career wanting more, climbing the ladder, and proving her worth in the industry. Must have strong comedic ability and timing. Must have experience with and good comprehension of Shakespearean text. A British accent could be helpful by not necessary.
