SCERA announces March 21-22 auditions for “Hairspray,” the opening show of the 2017 Summer Season at SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre
The SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre announces auditions for the opening show of its 2017 summer season, “Hairspray.” It will be directed by Jan Shelton Hunsaker with music direction and choreography by Tiffany Winkel Nutter. Crysta Powell will serve as stage manager.
“Hairspray” will play June 9-24 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays @ 8:00pm.
Auditions will be held Tuesday, March 21 or Wednesday, March 22 from 7:00-9:00pm at SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem. Callbacks, for those invited, will be held Thursday, March 23, and will include a dance audition.
The role of Edna Turnblad will be played by Andrew Hunsaker, but all other roles are available. Auditioners ages 14 and older should prepare to sing 16-24 bars from an upbeat Broadway musical of their choice. An accompanist or IPOD playback will be available – please bring your music. Auditions are done by appointment, and you can submit your audition form online and sign up for a time at
www.scera.org under the Stage tab. A resume and headshot is helpful to bring with you, but is not required.
