Welcome to the world premiere of Gut by Alexander Utz!

Platform is dedicated to creating original platform-specific work and sharing the work of unconventional creators with unconventional audiences. This show will be an exploration of what theatre is thought to be and what it can be. We will integrate the identities and talents of the actors into the trope of storytellers sharing the tale of Alexis and Beaumont.
Summary:
A group of storytellers gathers to chronicle a curious tale.?It's 1822. A fur trader named Alexis St. Martin gets shot (by accident) and is left with a gaping wound in his chest, leading directly to his stomach. His doctor, William Beaumont, uses him and his wound to conduct studies on digestion for the next 11 years. And yes, this really happened.

Performances: September 23-October 15
Location: Chicago, IL
Virtual Auditions: Due by June 23 at 5pm Central
In Person Callbacks: July 8 (July 10 if needed)
Audition material: Please record a short contemporary monologue and share a 1-2 minute story with us. This could be existing material or something from your own life. We encourage you to use this as a chance to show off your special skills, be it an instrument, poetry, painting, or any other artistic medium.
Actors will be provided a $200 stipend and profit share for their participation in the production.
First Rehearsal: August 15
Rehearsals: No more than 20 hours a week on Tuesday-Saturday. Hours are 6-10pm during the week and 11-3pm on Saturdays.
Tech: September 18-20
Previews: September 21-22
Opening: September 23
Closing: October 15
Platform is proud to be producing our Chicago premiere in collaboration with Avalanche Theatre. The show will be performed at the Fine Arts Building and streamed through the help of PocketTheatreVR.
