AUDITIONS FOR ANNUAL HALLOWEEN THEATER EVENT GHOSTWALK AT SANTA PAULA
The Santa Paula Theater Center announces auditions for its annual October Theater in the Streets project, GHOSTWALK, running from Oct. 12 - Oct. 28 - Fri, Sat and Sun 5-10pm. The auditions will be held on Monday July. 30th and Wednesday Aug. 1st from 7-10 pm at the Santa Paula Theater Center,
125 So. 7th St. in Santa Paula. All levels of experience welcome. Community members encouraged to participate. Directors are Elixeo Flores, Colette Swan, Mitch Stone, and Leticia Mattson.
This year's GHOSTWALK event, an repeating evening walking tour lasting about an hour each time and involving real or imagined stories of local history told by ghosts along the route, will begin at the Santa Paula Train Station and then make its way to the Labor Memorial then through the back entrance of the AG Museum. There are many flexible opportunities for principal players, supporting players, and extra roles. Both experienced actors and other interested participants are encouraged to come out. All players are essential and will be costumed and made up. Below are a sampling of key roles available:
? Doctor Grace Sharp. Female. Age range 25-65. Costumed role. Key role. This role can be filled by multiple players depending on casting availability.
? Rose Marshall. Suffragette. Female. Age range 30-65. Costumed role. Key role. This role can be filled by multiple players depending on casting availability.
? Maud Graham. Temperance Woman. Female. Age range 30-65. Costumed role. Key role. This role can be filled by multiple players depending on casting availability.
?Joycee Patterson . Female Farm laborer - Female. Age range 30 - 50. Costumed role. Key role. This role can be filled by multiple players depending on casting availability.
? Miguel. Mexican Farm Laborer. - Male. Age range 30 - 50. Costumed role. Key role. This role can be filled by multiple players depending on casting availability.
? Lester. Tractor Driver - Male. 40’s to 60’s. Minimal number of lines to memorize. This role can be filled by multiple players depending on casting availability.
? Ghost Travelers - Male and Female. All age ranges. This is a good opportunity for friends and families to participate in Ghostwalk. There are no memorized lines although we may ask you to ad-lib some lines. This is a costumed role. The idea is to have ghosts bustling around the train station. Commitment can be for the entire run (every weekend) or you can elect to participate only one weekend or even just one night (must be the full evening).
? Ghost Suffragette and Temperance Crowd - Male and Female. All age ranges. This is a good opportunity for friends and families to participate in Ghostwalk. There are no memorized lines although we may ask you to ad-lib some lines. This is a costumed role. The idea is to have ghosts listening and reacting to the speeches being given by the Suffragette and the Temperance woman. Commitment can be for the entire run (every weekend) or you can elect to participate only one weekend or even just one night (must be the full evening).
Betsy. Train station passenger. Female all age ranges. Costumed role, minimal lines to learn. Role can be filled by multiple players depending on cast availability.
Newsboy/girl. Male and Female. 12-16. Costumed role, minimal lines to memorize. Role can be filled by multiple players depending on cast availability.
Temperance Band. Male or Female, all age ranges. Costumed role, would be great opportunity for High School band members.
Labor camp extras. All age rages, male and female. Costumed roles. This is a good opportunity for friends and families to participate in Ghostwalk. There are no memorized lines although we may ask you to ad-lib some lines. This is a costumed role. The idea is to have ghosts adding color and atmosphere to camp life. Commitment can be for the entire run (every weekend) or you can elect to participate only one weekend or even just one night (must be the full evening). Acoustic guitar player needed.
