FLORIDA REPERTORY THEATRE 2022 SEASON - Florida Repertory Theatre

Florida Repertory Theatre to hold auditions for local non-union and EMC actors.

For the first time since 2019, Florida Rep announces auditions for performers local to Southwest Florida.

Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for non-union and EMC performers local to Fort Myers and Southwest Florida. Auditions are scheduled for Sunday, June 26 from 12 PM to 5 PM and Monday, June 27 from 3 PM to 8 PM, and will take place in the theatre’s new rehearsal and administrative complex at 1415 Hendry Street in the Fort Myers River District.

Auditioning performers should visit the casting call page on the theatre’s website to sign up for a five-minute appointment. The web address is:

Local non-union and EMC performers will be considered for open roles and understudy opportunities in the theatre’s newly-announced 2022-2023 Season as well as roles in the 2023 PlayLab Festival scheduled for next spring.

Florida Repertory Theatre is a fully professional theatre company that employs members of Actors’ Equity Association and members of its Ensemble of Artists, but each season is able to cast a select number of roles from its Acting Intern Company as well as the local community of artists. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the theatre hasn’t held a local audition since the summer of 2019.

“We are excited to spend two days auditioning performers from our community and the wider Southwest Florida region,” said Artistic Director Greg Longenhagen. “Florida Rep is known for working with our Ensemble Members and frequent guest artists from around the state, the country, and New York City, but we know there is a considerable amount of talent right here, as well!”

Longenhagen continued, “local auditions give us a chance meet up with area artists and to reacquaint ourselves with the actors working on Southwest Florida stages as we look to fill select roles and hire understudies for our professional season. Of course, we are proud to be on contract with Actors’ Equity, but we do have opportunities to cast non-union and Equity Membership Candidates each season and we look forward to seeing those performers’ work on June 26 and 27.”
