DETROIT AREA COMBINED THEATRES - Detroit Area Combined Theatres

Joint General Auditions announced for nineteen area theatres.

Nineteen of the Detroit area’s most popular and critically-acclaimed theatre companies will be holding joint general auditions for the 2014-2015 theatre season May 12, 13 and 19, 2014, at the Marlene Boll Theatre inside the Boll Family YMCA (1401 Broadway, Detroit, MI 48226). Auditions will be held from 6:00-10:00 p.m. each evening. Appointments are required and may be made by e-mailing

Male and female actors over the age of 18 from all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to attend. Appointments are required; walk-ins are welcome but are not guaranteed a slot. Actors must make appointments by e-mailing
mijointgenerals@gmail.com, including in the body of the e-mail full name, desired appointment date and time, and phone number. Headshots and résumés should not be attached to the e-mail. No appointments will be made by phone. After an audition appointment is confirmed, each actor will be sent an information form to fill out prior to arriving at the auditions. There will be a first-come, first-served waiting list at the theatre each night; we will do our best to see everyone.

Actors should prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues no longer than three minutes altogether. Auditions will be timed. Actors should bring nineteen sets of headshot/résumés.

All roles offered will be paid. Jewish Ensemble Theatre and Plowshares Theatre Company are members of Actors’ Equity Association. Some theatres may offer Equity Special Appearance or Guest Artist contracts.

The Ringwald produces work that will blur the lines between race, income, religion, and sexuality. Seasons to include productions focusing primarily on newer works, previously un-produced scripts, and fresh interpretations of seasoned classics. The Snug Theater will offer high-quality, affordable, live performing arts entertainment in a fresh, yet quaint, professional facility in historic Marine City. The Snug will produce and direct licensed plays and musicals but will also seek to attract various other theatrical and musical artists to our venue to add to our season in an effort to offer diversity of product. While we do intend to deliver an assortment of performance artists, we are not planning to feature club style entertainment. We are engaged in the promotion of arts and culture to enable people to have an engaging, compelling and often humorous experience with the arts.

Two Muses Theatre's mission is to provide opportunities for women in theatre and promote female artists and artisans. A non-profit theater and recent recipient of a MCACA/NEA operational grant, all funds raised from performances go directly into maintaining the theater and contributing to charitable organizations centered on women, children and families. In their fourth season, Two Muses Theatre will present a world premiere musical: At the Bistro Garden directed by a guest director from LA (3 men, 4 women), Jake's Women by Neil Simon (1 man, 7 women), Clybourne Park (3 men, 3 women), and God of Carnage (2 men, 2 women). They perform in the intimate 150-seat theater located inside the West Bloomfield Barnes & Noble.
