A free audition workshop and open auditions will be held to cast the upcoming production of Cockadoodledoo by Eric Yokomori at Kumu Kahua Theatre.
In an effort to help develop local talent, Kumu Kahua Theatre will offer a free audition workshop one week prior to auditions. The production director, Harry Wong, will lead the workshop, which will include a discussion of the script and characters, what he is seeking at the auditions and audition exercises.
The audition workshop will take place on Sunday December 29th, from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM, at Kumu Kahua Theatre (location information below).

THE PLAY
In a small rural town where “nothing interesting happens,” a chunk of meteor lands in farmer Templeton’s chicken coop and changes everything – including the chickens. His friend Ziggy, to whom he sells a souvenir chunk, undergoes a bizarre transformation and is quarantined by the Feds. But this is only part of Yokomori’s surrealistic tale, which echoes Beckett’s Waiting for Godot and Ionesco’s Rhinoceros, and introduces a host of odd characters including an evil ventriloquist, a masochistic postman, a mercenary wannabe, and more.
Rehearsals may begin as early as Monday, January 27; the show runs March 27 – April 27, 2014.

Maddie
Burt
Ziggy
Pyles
Templeton
Goober
Ketchup
A Chorus of townspeople, chickens, a puppet, deities, etc.
(These characters ages are open; dancers will be needed among these, all could range from teens to 40s.)
Both the workshop and auditions will be held at the Kumu Kahua Theatre, on the corner of Merchant and Bethel Streets. The entrance into Kumu Kahua Theatre is from the small park on the Merchant Street side.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script, and some movement exercises, including dance for particular chorus roles. Please dress accordingly. Auditioners may come either day, but should come early and may be asked to stay for the whole time.
Scripts are available for loan with a $10 cash deposit at the Kumu Kahua Theatre office weekdays between 11am and 3pm–please call 536-4222 before coming to the theatre.
