The Wilmette Center for the Arts announces
auditions for the fall production of
BIG THE MUSICAL (TYA)
Direction by Artistic Director Alison Dornheggen
Music Direction by Paul Scavone

General auditions will be Saturday, August 5th from 11am until 4pm with callbacks on either August 11th or 12th. Performances are November 3rd – 12th, 2017. Auditions will be held at theatre at the Center for the Arts, 3000 Glenview Rd, in Wilmette.

We are seeking to build an ensemble of character actors. (Please know that ALL cast members will be playing multiple roles, both teens and adults.) Please prepare 32 measures (or up to one minute) of a song in the style of the show that best shows off your voice AND a second 32 bars (or up to one minute) of a character song / something against your type / something out of the box for you. If you wish to be considered for the role of Josh, please have a monologue up to one minute in length ready if asked.

Auditions are open to all adults and teens that will be entering into his or her freshman year in high school.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

Adult Josh Baskin: The grown man that Josh turns into after making a wish. Gender: Male identified; Vocal range: Bb2 - A4

Susan Lawrence: An executive at MacMillan and Josh's love interest. Beautiful and all business. Gender: Female identified; Vocal range: G#3 – G5

Mrs. Baskin: Josh's mother. Motherly and protective to the point of almost smothering. Gender: Female identified; Vocal range: G3 - D5

Billy Kopecki: Teenager, Josh's best friend. Gender: Male identified; Vocal range top: C3 - G4

Young Josh Baskin: Teenager; Lacking confidence and self-esteem, he yearns to become older. Gender: Male identified; Vocal range: F3 - F5

Macmillan: A toy company owner trying to save his failing business. Distinguished, but with a
good sense of humor. Gender: Open; Vocal range: C3 - F4

Paul Seymour: A junior executive at MacMillan Toys who becomes Josh's rival in the office. Gender: Open; Vocal range: F3 – G4

Ensemble: 4-6 Strong character actors / singers who will add to the ensemble playing several roles
