PCT is excited to announce audition information for its Fall 2019 production of Big Fish!
Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, Big Fishtells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest…and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him—most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. Overflowing with heart and humor, Big Fish is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love going to the theater—for an experience that’s richer, funnier and bigger than life itself.
Auditions will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church (268 Hill Road North, Pickerington, Ohio 43147).
The production will be directed by Damon Barnett.
Please choose one of the following audition dates:
Friday, August 2, 2019 – 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Saturday, August 3, 2019 – 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Sunday, August 4, 2019 – 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (for call backs, if needed)
Performances will be held at the Wigwam Theater (10190 Blacklick-Eastern Road Northwest, Pickerington, Ohio 43147) and are scheduled for Thursday, October 11 – Sunday, October 20, 2019.
Tentative Rehearsal Schedule:
Friday evenings
Saturdays – 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Sundays – 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Rehearsals are scheduled so that only specific cast members are needed depending on what is being rehearsed.
The audition process has some very simple steps:
1) You will be asked to fill out an audition form. Audition forms will be available at auditions or you can click
HERE to download a fillable PDF that you can complete ahead of time and bring with you. You may attach a resume and picture to your audition form if you wish but it is not required. Please bring a calendar that includes conflicts.
2) You will have your picture taken and a number will be assigned to you.
3) Be prepared to sing part of a song of your choice (no more than a minute long). A piano is available for use. Acapella singing or recorded accompaniment is also fine. Please choose age appropriate music. A Broadway song is preferable. Please do not sing a song from Big Fish.
4) If seeking a speaking role, please be prepared to stay for cold readings from the script. There are many videos of this show online for you to check various characters.
5) We will have a simple dance audition (performed in small groups). We are also looking for featured dancers. For chorus roles we only need to see basic movement.
You will receive a phone call Saturday evening, August 3, 2019 if you have been called back for a lead role. If you are not called back this does not mean you will not be cast nor does it mean you will not have a speaking role (as there are many named roles). Final cast list will be sent via email by Wednesday evening, August 7, 2019 and posted on our website, www.pctshows.com.
