Breakdown

NOTE: ALL actors in this show must be accomplished comedians. We are definitely looking for an ethnically diverse cast. Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to submit for all roles.

SHERLOCK HOLMES:
Male, Any ethnicity, mid 30’s to late 40’s. Tall, angular, athletic, unpredictable, a master of disguise (both physical and vocal), with a brilliantly facile mind and a British dialect (RP). Good comedian.

WATSON:
Male, Any ethnicity, mid 30’s to late 40’s. A man of action, but affable, a good narrator, straight man to Holmes. Again, a British dialect (again, RP). Good comedian.

NOTE: ALL the following actors must be able to play multiple characters, each with his or her own voice, physicality, personality. And the actors need to be in very good shape: the show’s pace will be hectic, and the quick-changes from one character to the next is lightning-fast. A facility with different British dialects is important: RP, cockney, etc.

ACTOR 1:
Male, Any ethnicity, 30-50. Plays more character types (villains, country bumpkins, butlers, doctors, opera characters). Plays 14 different characters. Perhaps larger in stature than Actor 2. Good comedian and/or clown

ACTOR 2:
Male, Any Ethnicity, 25-45. Plays both older and younger characters than Actor 1. Needs to be Texan juvenile lead, as well as Inspector, and a female scullery maid. Plays 7 different characters. Good comedian, and/or clown

ACTRESS 1:
Female, Any Ethnicity, 25-40. Plays mostly female but also a male character, from housekeeper to Our Heroine, from opera diva to a Mrs. Danvers-like chatelaine. Good comedian, and /or clown.
