ARTIST EMPOWERED 2017 SUMMER INTENSIVE - The School of Performing Arts

The School of Performing Arts will hold auditions for its college-preparatory Artist Empowered 2017 Summer Intensive from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, at the American Rhythm Center, 410 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 300, Chicago. To register for an audition slot, visit SchoolofPerformingArts.com and click on Artist Empowered. Prospective students not available for an in-person audition may submit an online audition video and application by the May 5 deadline.

Designed for students age 14-19 who aspire to study performing arts in college, The School of Performing Arts’ two-week Artist Empowered 2017 Summer Intensive (July 23 - Aug. 5, Chicago) will bring together top teaching professionals from across the country to create an individualized training opportunity for every participant. Among program faculty announced to-date are award-winning lyric soprano Claudia Benack, associate professor of voice at Carnegie Mellon University, and Cameron Knight, head of the BFA Acting program at The Theatre School at DePaul University.

Concentrations will be offered in Contemporary Voice, Classical Voice, Musical Theater and Acting. Beyond developing the artistic capabilities students will need to accomplish their goals, knowledgeable instructors will also focus on the courage, strength and tenacity required to survive and thrive in today’s artistic environment. This one-of-a-kind intensive will be held in the heart of downtown Chicago, utilizing the facilities of Chicago’s historic Fine Arts Building and state-of-the-art Roosevelt University Center.
