The William Inge Center for the Arts is producing The Fantasticks, the classic 1960 musical, with music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones, with songs like Try to Remember, and
Soon It's Gonna Rain, Directed by Carolyn Mignini (with Tom Jones). To Life!, a new musical revue from the songs of Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, the creators of some of Americas favorite all time musicals including Fiddler on the Roof, The Apple Tree, She Loves Me, The Rothschild’s, Tenderloin, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning Fiorello!, directed by Kaitlin Hopkins and J. Robert Moore. The Dark at the Top of the Stairs, directed by Karen Carpenter, which was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play in 1958 and was made into a film in 1960. And a new multi-media one-man show Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground”, by Richard Hellesen, a funny, heartbreaking, patriotic and riveting, the play explores Ike’s life, incredible accomplishments and disappointments; which surprisingly shed great insight into the modern world and today’s politics, directed by Peter Ellenstein.

.The Fantasticks, Seeking Males Age (18 to 60) Females Age (16 to 30) Roles: El Gallo (the Narrator/Bandit), 30-50 Matt (the Boy) 18-25, Luisa (the Girl) 16-25, Hucklebee (the Boy's father) 40-60, Bellomy (the Girl's father) 40-60, Henry (the Old Actor) 50+, Mortimer (the man who dies - an actor, pretending to be an American Indian) 30+, The Mute (who at times acts the part of the Wall) 20s-50s, good mover.

For Audition: Prepare a ballad (with sheet music) (up-tempo for Fathers) from a legit Broadway show, not Broadway Rock or Pop. You may be asked to read from the script.

To Life! The Songs of Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick:

Seeking 4 roles: All roles versatile singer/actors, with comedic/dramatic ability, strong movers. 1-Male Age (20 to 40, high Baritone) 1- Females Age (20 to 35, Mezzo-Soprano) 1-Female (18-25, Ingénue, Soprano), 1-Female, (35-55, Character, Mezzo).

For Audition: Prepare an Up-tempo and a ballad from a legit Broadway show, not Broadway Rock or Pop. Ideally songs by Bock/Harnick.

The Dark at the Top of the Stairs, Seeking Males Age (10 to 50) Females Age (16 to 45) Roles: Cora Age (34 to 40) the wife appears to be the typical overbearing mother type who thinks she knows what is best for her husband and family. Rubin Age (36 to 45) tries to compensate for his own lack of self-esteem by cheating on his wife with another woman in another town. Reenie Age (16 to 20) is the teenage daughter, who is something of a wallflower since none of the boys ever ask her to dance at the school dances, Sonny Age (9 to 12) the young son who is always being picked on at school for being a “mama’s boy.” His only friends are photographs of silent film movie stars.

There are other characters who come into their lives, including the know-it-all talkative aunt Lottie Age (35 to 50) and her spineless husband Morris Age (40 to 60) This is not a happy camper family. To make matters worse, the mother can’t even spare a nickel for the movie loving boy to go to the local “picture show.” Sammy, Age (18 to 22) is a “blind date” for Reenie. His problem is that he is Jewish (half Jewish according to him) and living in an all Christian environment in Oklahoma. He is also a very lonely boy and borders on suicidal... Flirt Age (16 to 20) is Reenie’s gregarious best friend, and Punky, Age (18-22) is her mumbling, somewhat comic boyfriend.

For Audition: Sides will be available at the Inge Offices and Online (beginning Wednesday) at Ingecenter.org/audition.

Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground, Seeking Males Age (55 to 70) Role: Eisenhower.

For Audition: Interview only, or prepare one-two minute monologue that demonstrates command, intelligence, dignity and passion.
