NATALIE/ED - A young woman and an excellent mechanic. She’s much more at home in greasy overalls than a dress. Natalie decides to pretend she is a boy named “ED” to become closer to Chad. She is In love with Chad.
CHAD: a great-lookin', motorcycling, guitar-playing, leather-jacketed roustabout. He’s a bad boy with a heart of gold, in love with Miss Sandra
SYLVIA: the no-nonsense, owner of SYLVIA'S HONKY-TONK. She runs the local hang out.
LORRAINE: Pretty Local Teen who works at Sylvia’s. She is a hopeless romantic and has a wonderful fun sprit and ready to do whatever it takes to be with Dean Hyde.
DENNIS: a young, awkward, aspiring dentist. He is the permanent side-kick. He is madly in love with Natalie and always has been.
MISS SANDRA: the beautiful, intellectual caretaker of the town's museum. She is in love with ED.
MAYOR MATILDA HYDE: the town's conservative mayor. She is over the top and angry about most things. Does everything she can to stop Chad from taking over the town.
DEAN HYDE: Matilda's year-old son. He has grown up at a military boarding school. He falls in love with Lorraine and does everything he can to get away from his overbearing mother, who is the town mayor.
SHERIFF EARL: The law in town. Works closely with Mayor Matilda Hyde.
