ADOLESCENT ANARCHY IMPROV PLAYERS - Des Moines Community Playhouse

Auditions for Adolescent Anarchy Improv Players will be held at the Des Moines Community Playhouse, 4:00-6:30 PM, Monday, Mar. 10. All auditions are open to the public; no one is pre-cast.

Improv Players will be an ensemble of 10 teens -- an aimed number but not set -- of five girls and five boys, ages 15-18. The audition will contain fun improv games, varying between short-form and long-form. Auditionees should come prepared in clothes in which they are comfortable moving. They should bring a list of any permanent conflicts. Auditionees are asked to arrive early to fill out an audition form, and have rides prepared for departure at 6:30 PM.

Performances will be scheduled, around the Players' conflicts, at local venues and at the Playhouse during the 2014-15 school year. There will also be performances during a few weekends in June and July.

Adolescent Anarchy Improv Players was created to give students the opportunity to perform both short-form and long-form improv in a professional environment. The mission of this improv troupe is to develop communication skills, augment one's ability to think quickly on their feet, and enjoy the entertainment values of theatre. The troupe will provide a unique performance experience for audiences and the ensemble alike.

Adolescent Anarchy is a newly-formed group of 9 dedicated high school students with high standards and a great passion for theatre. Their mission is to build a foundation of involvement for teens in the theatre by giving them complete creative control to develop a fully-realized, successful production. Adolescent Anarchy is breaking the boundaries of traditional theatre and innovating the way theatre is viewed and produced by allowing teens to administer and operate projects.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
