About the project : A Light in Dark Places (ALIDP) breaks down stigma surrounding the topic of suicide by using the performing arts to encourage healthy discussion, create community, and offer hope to those affected. This production will be made up of five short-plays, using a mix of comedy and drama, followed by Q&A’s and a reception.

Actors may submit for more than one role if applicable. Email by Sunday February 4th @ 6pm C to sign up. First round will be over zoom.
Please note that this event is a volunteer opportunity to raise suicide prevention awareness. Non-Union. Participants will be given a $100 stipend. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention recommends waiting to volunteer for one year after a suicide loss or attempt.

Tech Rehearsal: Saturday, March 30th, 10am - 5pm (45 min/play)
Dress Rehearsal: Tuesday, April 2nd @ 7pm
Dress Rehearsal: Wednesday, April 3rd @ 7pm
Final Dress: Thursday, April 4th @ 7pm
Performance Dates: April 5, 6, 11, 12 @ 8pm and April 13 @ 2pm & 8pm
Please check all dates carefully, and feel free to ask questions regarding them when submitting. Rehearsals will be scheduled with each director upon casting; expect to meet 4-6 times. Performances will be held at the Bath House Cultural Center.

Blue Christmas by Allie Costa. Directed by Chris Millar.
SAMINA: Female. 21. Open hearted and overlooked. The most involved student on campus, but not well-known. Any ethnicity. Pronounced Sah-mee-nah.
KINNIN: Any gender. 21. Self-assured and independent. Any ethnicity. The script right now uses he/him pronouns for Kinnin but we will adjust the pronouns to suit the actor cast in the role.
Man in Cage With Friend by Jim Kuenzer. Directed by Ale Fips.
ME: 20-30, any gender, Regular Person. Wants to be happy.
IT: 20-30, any gender, Me’s constant companion. A real downer. Often has the upper hand over ME
FRIEND: 20-30, any gender), ME’s new friend, holds onto a positive outlook
ISSUES: 20-30, any gender, Friend’s constant companion. A real downer. Seldom has the upper hand.
Get Well Soon by Blake Lewis. Directed by Ale Fips.
MARTIN: Ollie’s Dad, 50’s. Caring father of Ollie. Martin prepares a special event for his son to show him how loved he is. Martin finds himself in a circumstance he never expected to be in and makes strong choices on how to make Life better for him, his son, and his son’s friends.
OWEN: Irish, 20’s. Appears indifferent, sarcastic, and aloof but like all of them he is merely caught up in a circumstance he’s not equipped to handle.
CONNER: Ollie’s Best Friend, 20’s. Conner is having a hard time understanding Martin’s choices. He’s defensive and angry but it comes from a place of fear, concern, love, and vulnerability.
MARIA: Ollie’s Friend. 20’s. Kind-hearted. Sensitive. Open. Vulnerable.
At Least Slightly by Andrew Heinze. Directed by Kelly O’Malley.
JENNY: Early to Mid 30s, A gentle soul. She has phases of chronic depression that have come like waves throughout her life starting from an early age. She’s empathetic to the world and those around her but often lacks empathy for herself.
JAY: Early to Mid 30s, He’s attentive and observant to his surroundings and he carries out both his personal life and his work life with strategy yet ease simultaneously. He resides in being present and attentive to his passions.
