With some fast-talking patter, “Professor” Harold Hill convinces the parents of River City to buy instruments and uniforms for their youngsters to form a marching band in order to keep them out of “Trouble.” But when Hill’s credentials come into question, suspicion quickly leads to chaos…until the town’s librarian, Marian Paroo, persuades Hill to stay and prove himself, instead of skipping town before the instruments arrive. Classic musical numbers include Till There Was You; Seventy-Six Trombones; Ya Got Trouble; Gary, Indiana; Pick a Little; Shipoopi and Goodnight My Someone.
