Acting is all about human connection. So is life. With CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION, a powerful and insightful early work by Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Baker, Eagle Theatre will present a night of unforgettable theatre that skillfully proves why the ability to connect and emphasize with others is more vital than ever, through the story of five individuals whose community center theatre classes change their lives forever. CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION will run May 12-29 at the Eagle's historic downtown Hammonton venue.
In the two years since Eagle Theatre last presented a mainstage musical, it's become clear that there are three things audiences are ready to experience once again: the power of live music, the delight of a hilarious comedy, and really, really bad Australian accents. With their first show of 2022, XANADU, the Eagle will provide all three!
Eagle Theatre has announced its first mainstage productions since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, a “mini season” of two plays that celebrate the power of art to transform our lives.
Our theatre began as a silent film era theatre and operated from 1914 until 1927 under the owner, Samuel Litke. The theatre became repurposed for use as a church for 15 years. In 1959, a local family bought the property and used it until 2006 as storage for their auto-parts company. In 2006, demolition was planned, but local, devoted residents rallied to save the theatre to ensure downtown revitalization. The Eagle Theatre was reopened as a movie theatre on July 9, 2009, with a screening of Somewhere in Time starring Christopher Reeve. In 2012, the US Department of Agriculture provided more than half a million dollars in loans and grants so that so the nonprofit organization, Eagle Theatre Inc., could purchase the building and for physical improvements including equipment for the stage and ticketing. Friends of Eagle Theatre work with the nonprofit Hammonton Revitalization Corp. to secure the future of this historic theatre.
Eagle Theatre is at 208 Vine Street, Hammonton, NJ.
