Two actors, two pianos and many, many characters grace the stage asfifteen years of learning the art of piano playing unfolds. From classical to pop to jazz, the play provides the chance for two performers to give their all in a 120-minute virtuoso performance. Along the journey the actors/pianists portray a dazzling range of characters embellished with a show of piano wizardry featuring the music of Bach, Beethoven, and Jerry Lee Lewis.As children, they endure the judging eyes of teachers, adjudicators, and parents. As friendly competitors nearing their teens they face off at various festivals. As young adults, their eyes open to new ideas and influences. And as they mature, Ted and Richard become more aware of the gap between the very good and the great - the universal plight of all those with an ounce of training and talent and the will to be a professional musician, or athlete, or actor, or dancer. 2 PIANOS 4 HANDS captures the humor that comes with dedicating yourself to a dream, and the sense of loss in eventually learning to let go of it.

Peterborough Players Opens Season With Bold And Daring Musical CABARET
June 14, 2022The Players' stage comes roaring back to life with Cabaret, the daring, bold, and provocative classic musical, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Joe Masteroff. This celebrated, show-stopping, musical masterpiece is the first mainstage Players' production to return indoors since February of 2020. Cabaret opens on Thursday, June 23rd and runs until Sunday, July 3rd.

August 24, 2021The Peterborough Players will round out its three-show Grand Restart with the U.S. Premiere of Where You Are, a new play written by Canadian playwright Kristen Da Silva. Directed by Tom Frey and performed on the new outdoor Elsewhere Stage at the Players, the “dramedy” will run from September 1-12 at 4:30pm.

Winner of 4 Tony Awards, Morning's at Seven is a funny and deeply poignant look at the foibles of a close-knit Midwestern family in the 1930s. It opens at the Peterborough Players on July 17th. ?

The Peterborough Players was founded in 1933 by Edith Bond Stearns -- EBS as she was known to friends -- a woman of imagination and vision with a love for the arts. To quote from Our Playhouse (available through Peterborough Players): “At the time EBS decided to purchase the Hadley Farm, it was abandoned and had no electricity or running water.”
