The Baxter Sisters had their lives planned out as teenagers back in 1937. They would win the talent competition in Detroit, get a spot on Major Bowes Amateur Hour and become a famous traveling act of tap dancing sisters. But after April, May, June and Dottie lose the competition to one Betty Hutton, the sisters are forced to lower their expectations of stardom and learn to enjoy what they have together in Ionia, MI. A story inspired by true events, The Baxter Sisters takes a hard look at mid 20th century life between these four outgoing siblings.

Due to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer's' temporary ban on all large group events in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, theatres across the state are postponing and/or canceling performances. BroadwayWorld Detroit is doing its best to combine a list of those performances in one place for theatergoers. If a theatre or any information is missing, please email Katie.Laban@gmail.com for it to be added. *This is a developing story, with more information being added as it becomes available.

A Doll's House is a play studied by students around the world. A production ahead of its time, it questioned the traditional roles of men and women in the 19th-century. This message, while not well received at the time, was essential to the forward movement of theatre. A Doll's House, Part 2 , written 140 years later by Lucas Hnath, aims to answer the question of what happened where Henrik Ibsen's classic play left off?

A block down from Downtown Northville's historic Main Street sits a white brick building on the corner of Cady and Griswold Streets. The full garden draws patrons to the front doors and into a cozy and modern industrial lobby, fit with new paint and carpeting. This is Tipping Point Theatre, a professional theatre that has been quietly producing high-quality stage shows for the last 12 years.
Tipping Point Theatre is at 361 E. Cady St, Northville, MI.
The Tipping Point is that one dramatic moment in an epidemic when everything can change all at once…and we’ve reached it in a BIG way! From operating as a “vagabond” theatre company under the umbrella of the Parks and Recreation department, performing in any empty space we could get our hands on and paying actors with smiles and applause – we opened in 2007 with big changes – tipping point changes! Incorporated as a professional, non-profit 501(c)3 organization in the state of Michigan, Tipping Point Theatre opened its doors as a professional Equity theatre company in our permanent facility in downtown Northville. TPT is currently under the direction of James R. Kuhl and led by Board President Nannette Ret. Join us in fulfilling our mission by continued participation as an audience member, actor, designer, donor and advocate for theatre in Michigan. Looking forward to seeing you “at the Point!”
