Single Tickets Now On Sale for Miami City Ballet's 2018/19 Season

Single tickets for Miami City Ballet's 2018/19 season will go on sale Monday, July 9 for the Company's scheduled performances in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

The season includes the company premiere of Brahms/Handel, a unique choreographic collaboration between Twyla Tharp and Jerome Robbins; Paul Taylor's audience favorite Company B, set to the 1940s sounds of The Andrews Sisters; Jerome Robbins masterwork Dances at a Gathering; 2018 Tony award-winning choreographer Justin Peck's Heatscape, inspired by the vibrant streets of Miami's Wynwood Arts District; the highly-anticipated return of George Balanchine's full-length A Midsummer Night's Dream; and the holiday classic George Balanchine's The Nutcracker.

The 2018/19 season opens with Program One, featuring two George Balanchine masterpieces, his signature Concerto Barocco, and the thrilling Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2. Followed by Paul Taylor's audience favorite Company B, returning to Miami City Ballet's repertoire after nearly 10 years.

The Wall Street Journal called it the "Caribbean-flavored Nutcracker ... a production that adds a new and marvel-filled chapter to the ballet's long and evolving history." The thrilling new production of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker returns to Miami and West Palm Beach, and this year adding a stop at Ft. Lauderdale's Broward Center.

Program Two highlights two 20th century masterworks by Jerome Robbins. Miami City Ballet will showcase Dances at a Gathering, featuring 10 dancers and live Chopin piano music, and Brahms/Handel, a unique collaboration between two choreographic geniuses who also were close friends: Robbins and Twyla Tharp.

Program Three includes Justin Peck's Miami-inspired Heatscape, the romantic and joyous Flower Festival in Genzano Pas de Deux, along with two Balanchine works: Duo Concertant and The Four Temperaments, a magnificent groundbreaking ballet.

Program Four closes the 2018/19 season with the first return of one of Miami City Ballet's most extraordinary productions, the reimagining of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Balanchine's classic choreography is the vehicle for Shakespeare's timeless tale of love, magic and illusion, with ravishing music by Felix Mendelssohn - including the famous Wedding March.

In addition to the season programs, MCB will travel to Chicago to perform One Line Drawn, which was commissioned exclusively for the Company as part of choreographer Brian Brooks' three-year Choreographer in Residence Fellowship at the Harris Theater of Music and Dance in Chicago. The company premiered One Line Drawn during Program Three of the 2017/18 season.

Miami City Ballet also will join seven of the world's great ballet companies - American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, Mariinsky Ballet, New York City Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, The Royal Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet - for Balanchine: The City Center Years tribute in New York City from October 31 to November 4.
