In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Penobscot Theatre Company has made the difficult decision to postpone the remainder of their 46th season. During this unprecedented shutdown, they will begin an organizational restructuring in preparation for their 47th season. Producing Artistic Director Bari Newport said, 'It's been several weeks of very rapid and tough decision-making, but we remain laser-focused on the well-being of our theatre family, the community, and the success of the company.'

Previously available to subscribers only, tickets to Penobscot Theatre Company's upcoming add-on shows will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, October 1. Matilda: The Musical , will play from December 5-29 at the Historic Bangor Opera House. This classic Roald Dahl tale of a young girl in pursuit of the definition of family is sure to fill the bill for those who have made the PTC Holiday production one of their family traditions. For those looking for a night out without the kids, Penobscot Theatre Company will also offer a ridiculous, fully-improvised holiday shenanigan called A Kick In Your Dickens from December 12-29.
Penobscot Theatre Company is at 131 Main Street, Bangor, ME 04401 , Bangor, ME.
2020 marked the 100th Anniversary of the Bangor Opera House. We celebrated the occasion with a Jubilee Gala that took place at the Bangor Opera House on February 29th, 2020. At that event we launched the Centennial Patron Campaign in which we challenged ourselves to find 100 patrons to give $1,000 or more. An audacious campaign which was significantly interrupted by the worldwide shutdown. We thought for a time that we wouldn’t make it but we did as of June 2021!!! We’re grateful to all of our patrons for their generosity towards this company and our 100 year old home The Bangor Opera House. These funds will help sustain the entire organization to spark the next century of imagination. In commemoration of this campaign and the anniversary a pair of bronze plaques will be placed outside of the entrance to the theater. The plaques commemorate the historic nature of our home and the 104 patrons who believe that we inspire a love of the theater arts in the heart of Maine and beyond.
