GRIEF: a tempestuous and merciless process everyone must knowingly and inevitably face, often much sooner than were prepared for. Enter Michael Cristofer and his Pulitzer Prize winning masterpiece, The Shadow BoxSet in a series of hospice cabins, three terminal patients are forced to face their own mortality but their more immediate challenge appears in those they will leave behind, all fixed in their own stage of grief: Agnes and her mother Felicity, estranged by the latters dementia; Brian and Beverly whose previous marriage and complications are now exacerbated by Brians new lover, Mark; and Joe and his wife Maggie who is thoroughly in denial over her husbands fate and its effect on their young teenage son. This compelling drama, brilliantly interweaving the three stories, ultimately reminds us of the immeasurable value of life and love.
