The Group Rep presents their third Nine Winning One-Acts play festival, with fresh world premiere short plays chosen from more than 250 entries from around the world. The event is being co-produced by Belinda Howell and Helen OBrien for the Group Rep. All nine plays will be performed as one program, twice a week for six weeks, running June 8 through July 14, Upstairs at the Group Rep on the second floor of the Lonny Chapman Theatre in North Hollywood, California.The plays selected are Cliffords by Lawson Caldwell - Ivey and her dad are discussing her upcoming wedding. They meet a 63 year old neighbor, who is gay and also getting married, but faces discrimination; Whose Plot Is This? by Pamela Weiler Grayson - A man and his four wives meet in the cemetery after they die. It's going to be a long forever; Blue Bench by Aleks Merilo - A youth sneaks into the tent of a traveling circus to spy on the "faceless man". What follows explores the meaning of family. The Librariest by Dan ODay - A young couple discovers answers they werent looking for...at the library; The Unforgiveable Sin of Forgiveness by Rich Orloff -When a wife admits her illicit activities to her husband, his response makes her feel like she's been the injured party; Art Attack by Cary Pepper - Diane and Brendan visit an art gallery featuring the latest work by a minimalist artist. They argue about art, then their relationship. What is artand what isn't?; A Misinterpretation of Events by Margie Similof - Phil has turned the small town family factory over to his daughter Laurie, who subsequently has to fire him for harassing the female staff; Infesting the Mob by Joe Starzyk - Two mobsters are enjoying a nice espresso when an unexpected sinister stranger appears. Could this be the end for them?; and Destiny & Damage by Chris Shaw Swanson - Ginas attempt to end her life is interrupted by a stranger claiming to possess otherworldly connections.The one-acts are being directed by Linda Alznauer, Barbara Brownell, Cheryl Crosland, Jack Csenger, Kathleen Delaney, Victor Dwayne Little, Stan Mazin, Bruce Nehlsen, and Helen OBrien.The cast features performances by Nick Asaro, Bix Barnaba, Michele Bernath, Barbara Brownell, Cynthia Bryant, Fox Carney, Stephanie Colet, Cheryl Crosland, Bert Emmett, Kait Haire, Doug Haverty, Mishia Marie-Johnson, Saana Laigren, John Ledley, Victor Dwayne Little, Stan Mazin, Lisa McGee Mann, Joseph Marcello, Helen OBrien, Beccy Quinn, Michael Robb, Judy Rosenfeld, Adam Smith, Aidan Smith, Sal Valletta, Sascha Vanderslik, David Vu and Wyatt Wheeler. The Creative and Production Team includes Kenny Harder (Technical Director), Steve Shaw (Sound Design), Doug Haverty (Graphic Design), Doug Engalla (Photography/Videography), Jody Bardin (Stage Manager), and Linda Alznauer (Assistant Stage Manager).About Show Times and Tickets: Saturdays at 4:00 pm. The Group Rep Theatre at the Lonny Chapman Theatre is accepting submissions for their third annual festival of NINE WINNING ONE-ACTS, to be presented June 8 through July 14, 2019, Saturdays at 2 pm and Sundays at 7 pm, for a total of 12 performances, Upstairs at the Group Rep, an intimate 38 seat theatre on the second floor of the Lonny Chapman Theatre at 10900 Burbank Boulevard, North Hollywood, California.
