TheatreSquared has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $50,000 to support the 2024 Arkansas New Play Festival.
TheatreSquared and Writers Theatre Present THE BAND'S VISIT Regional Premiere The Band's Visit, the musical sensation that swept the Tony Awards after its Broadway debut, will have its regional premiere on October 11 at TheatreSquared (477 W. Spring St., Fayetteville) and will run through November 5.
TheatreSquared announced today that Joy Harjo, U.S. Poet Laureate and member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, is joining the team at the regional theatre company to serve as the 2021 Artist in Residence.
Featured works will include FLEX by Arkansan playwright Candrice Jones, a filmed showcase of Remedios by the LatinX Theatre Project (LXTP) and The Heart's Desire by José Cruz González—whose play American Mariachi is opening this week on TheatreSquared's West Theatre stage.
TheaterWorks Hartford in Hartford, Connecticut and TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, Arkansas announced today that they have joined forces to digitally produce Sarah Gancher's timely new play about the everyday banality of destabilizing democracy, Russian Troll Farm: A Workplace Comedy.
TheatreSquared's season continues with the New York Times Critics' Pick, The Royale by Marco Ramirez (Orange Is the New Black, Sons of Anarchy). This tightly constructed, visceral drama is inspired by the real-world boxer Jack Johnson who a?" as a black man at the height of the Jim Crow era a?" became the heavyweight champion of the world. Told in a boxing ring over six rounds, The Royale is an electrifying adrenaline rush that shows the human cost of making history.
