Stages Repertory Theatre Presents LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

Stages Repertory Theatre is excited to present a brand new production of the iconic musical, Little Shop of Horrors. The sci-fi cult classic is slated for an 8-week run beginning March 6 in Stages' Yeager Theatre.

The musical follows a nerdy flower shop clerk named Seymour who happens upon a strange new breed of plant which he affectionately names Audrey after his secret crush. As "Audrey II" grows, the exotic bloom offers the promise of fame and fortune, but Seymour soon discovers that the carnivorous plant also has a taste for blood, ominous origins and an insatiable appetite for power.

"Little Shop of Horrors has joined the canon of great classic musicals because it is a near-perfect piece of musical theatre with a great score, ingenious lyrics, incredible characters and a story as important today as it ever has been, said Kenn McLaughlin, Artistic Director for Stages Repertory Theatre.

Little Shop of Horrors is one of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows that has devoured the hearts of theatre-goers for more than 30 years! Stages previously produced Little Shop of Horrors in 1990. The musical, with music by Alan Menken and lyrics and a book by Howard Ashman, premiered Off-Off-Broadway at the Workshop of the Players Art in 1982 and has since made its way to theatres worldwide.

The Little Shop of Horrors cast includes local favorites Phillip Brown (voice of the plant), Stoo (the plant), Mark Ivy (Seymour), Blake Jackson (Orin, Customer, Radio Announcer, Mr. Bernstein, Mrs. Luce, Skip Snip and Patrick Martin), Anna Maria Morris (Chiffon), Jimmy Phillips (Mr. Mushnik), Kiaya Scott (Audrey), Raven Troup (Crystal), and Tamarah Tucker (Ronnette).

The creative team includes Director/Choreographer Mitchell Greco, Properties Designer Jodi Bobrovsky, Sound Designer Emily Curley, Lighting Designer Bryan Ealey, Costume Designer Katherine Snider, Production Stage Manager Ashley Ginn and Scenic Designer Laura Fine Hawkes who specifically designed the puppets for this production. The puppets were constructed on-site by Stages artisans.

Previously at Stages, Greco has directed The Great American Trailer Park Musical (2018), Five Course Love, Xanadu, The Honky Tonk Angels series, Girls Night Life Could Be a Dream and Big Fish. He also serves on staff as Artistic Associate at Stages.

Performance dates are Wednesday, March 6 through Sunday, April 28.

Performance times are Wednesdays & Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8.p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
