Honolulu Theatre for Youth has announced that its production, In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson, by Bette Bao Lord, adapted for the stage by Mark Branner, returns to Tenney Theater for two weekends. The show is currently on a 20+ city U.S. tour that continues through the spring.

HTY is pleased to announce its third production of the season, In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson.  The play is based on the award-winning and well-loved book by Bette Bao Lord and was adapted for the stage by Mark Branner.  We are delighted to produce this original production of Mrs. Lord's important work on the 100th anniversary of Jackie Robinson's birth and in the Year of the Boar.  Mrs. Lord actually began her illustrious international career at the East West Center and is widely regarded as one of the most influential Asian American writers and thinkers.

Let's Go! is the theme for Honolulu Theatre for Youth's 65th season that will transport audiences around the globe and back in time to Korea, Japan, Tasmania, post-war New York, the kingdom of Hawaii, and more. Underlying the humor and excitement of each play are themes of resilience, love, friendship, and courage that will hit home.
