Tenney Theatre:
Cephus Miles abandons his farm after his childhood sweetheart leaves him. After he's released from jail for evading the Vietnam War, he heads North for a new life. Conflict strikes and he finds himself wanting to return home.
Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY) opens its 69th season with an all new, revamped version of The Carp Who Would Not Quit and Other Animal Stories, by Reiko Ho and The HTY Ensemble. The show includes re-tellings of traditional fables from Japan and Okinawa that teach important lessons of perseverance, respect and kindness.
Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY) will present the world premiere of Happy, Sad, Sad, Happy, by Annie Cusick Wood and The HTY Ensemble. The show was developed through a grant from the Hawaii State Department of Health, Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Division as an initiative to promote Health Equity.
Honolulu Theatre for Youth has announced that its production, In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson, by Bette Bao Lord, adapted for the stage by Mark Branner, returns to Tenney Theater for two weekends. The show is currently on a 20+ city U.S. tour that continues through the spring.
Honoring the long and diverse theatrical career of Peter Charlot, Keakalehua Playreading Hui and Kumu Kahua Theatre will host an online tribute on Thursday, September 22.
Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY) presents its annual gala Le Masquerade 2022: E Hoʻi Hou, a fundraiser to support the company. The event will be held in-person on September 18th at 4:00pm at The Pacific Club. This year’s event includes an online auction which opens to the public on Monday, September 12th at 12noon.
