Helena Ashwell

Isabel
Helena recently graduated from Drama Studio London. Romance in D is her professional stage debut with The English Theatre of Hamburg. During Helena’s training, she was the 2021 winner of the Maggie Ollerenshaw Comedy Award. Helena’s theatre credits whilst training included TWO PRINCES, HAY FEVER, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, ANTONY & CLEOPATRA, MACBETH, THE SEAGULL, ART and IRON.


Brian Tynan

Charles
Brian trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He is originally from Ireland and is based in London. Recent theatre credits include CELEBRATE (Vault Festival/Arcola), WAITING FOR GODOT(Reading Rep), TARTUFFE (Space Theatre) and the stage version of the film SE7EN in London and Hong Kong. He made his debut for The English Theatre Hamburg this year in OUTSIDE MULLINGAR.   Film credits include THE CURED, RIVERDANCE: THE ANIMATED ADVENTURE and the award-winning short film INTERLUDE.


Joanna Hildon

Helen
Joanne trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts where she was awarded the Ralph Richardson Memorial Award and The National Confederation of Drama Schools’ Lilian Baylis Award. She represented Mountview playing Isabella in Shakespeare’s MEASURE FOR MEASURE at The William Poel Festival at the Royal National Theatre. Theatre work includes: SIENNA RED (tour for Peter Hall and Bill Kenwright); MRS WARREN’S PROFESSION and YOU NEVER CAN TELL (tours for Michael Friend Productions); HITLER DANCES for Paul Tomlinson (Greenwich); WAS HE ANYONE? for Elgiva Field (Union); THE MISSION for Annie Castledine (Red Roaster Festival); STORMIN’ JACK NORMAN for Polly Irvin (Nightingale); IMAGINE DROWNING for Ed Bartram (Rosemary Branch). Television, film and radio include: YOUNG AMERICANS, IGNORANCE IS DANCING and PLAY DEAD for Danny Cannon (Channel 4); GRANGE HILL for Paul Annette (BBC); A SIMPLE MAN for Adam Bennett (Wychwood Films); HAT for Timothy Holden (Three World Films); THE PARTY GAME for Kevin Curtis and WATERLAND for David Hunter (Radio 4). Commercial credits include: Muller Yoghurt, Marmite, Crown Carvery and KFC. This is Joanne’s fourth play for The English Theatre of Hamburg where she previously played Louise in WHY NOT STAY FOR BREAKFAST, Camille in DEADLY GAME and Alice in SNAKE IN THE GRASS. Joanne was also the Principal of her own Performing Arts School for children and adapted and staged several productions for the school. Joanne is delighted to be returning to the ETH and Hamburg once again.


Jonny Magnanti

George
Born and brought up in Leeds, Jonny moved to London in 1984 to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has lived down south, give or take a year or two back in Leeds, ever since. Since leaving drama school Jonny has enjoyed a career in all aspects of the profession from West End plays and musicals, theatre tours, rep, film, television and voiceovers where he has voiced many TV and radio campaigns. Moving to the East Sussex countryside in 2010 Jonny took some time out to be a full-time dad, and with both children now grown up, returned to the profession playing Igor in the National Theatre’s production of THREE WINTERS directed by Howard Davies, The Premier of THE MOOR at the Old Red Lion Islington, HAPPY JACK at the Brockley Jack studio theatre, Oberon in MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM and Malvolio in TWELFTH NIGHT. He also filmed MUSKETEERS for the BBC, DOCTORS, LUCKY MAN and AMERICAN MONSTERS. More recently he has been filming THE GIRL BEFORE again for the BBC, scheduled to be shown soon. Jonny has just finished directing the UK premiere of John Patrick Shanley’s PRODIGAL SON with his now grown up son and completed the role of Antony in an open-air summer production of ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA June 2022. He is delighted to be appearing in Hamburg for the fourth time. Previous productions being ABSENT FRIENDS in 1994 and MOON OVER THE BREWERY in 2012, 39 STEPS in 2021/22 and just recently GREAT EXPECTATIONS in 2022/2023.
