Having presented more than 40 playwrights in 2019, Center for Performing Arts kicks off the new year with a celebration of Southwest Florida Playwrights in the January 10 edition of their Staged Reading Series. The event will feature short plays, a solo play excerpt, and the 40-minute one-act play Inn Trouble by Sarasota's Pamela Schueler, a door-slammer and comedy of errors with a noir feel.
Centers for Performing Arts Bonita Springs will present the brand new comedy CAUSE AND AFFECTION, October 24-27. A mix of pre-recorded soap opera scenes were filmed over the summer by the play's director Elizabeth D'Onofrio, whose professional careers in theatre and film span more than two decades. This unique presentation is perfectly suited for the Center's Moe Auditorium and Film Center stage.
Center for Performing Arts Bonita Springs launches its new year and new season with the Paul Rudnick comedy I HATE HAMLET, running July 18-21 at the Moe Auditorium and Film Center. Rudnick is probably best known for the Sister Act screenplay, and his plays include Jeffrey, The Naked Eye and the more recent Regrets Only.
