Florida Rep Announces Extensions For Three Productions

Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce extensions for three productions in its current season: "Tenderly: Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce extensions for three productions in its current season: "Tenderly: the Rosemary Clooney Musical," "Million Dollar Quartet" and "Native Gardens."

Now extended to March 9, "Tenderly: The Rosemary Clooney Musical" by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman opened in Dec. in the ArtStage Studio Theatre and is playing to sold-out houses in the intimate venue. The biographical musical about Clooney's rise to stardom stars Susan Haefner and Michael Marotta, who are getting rave reviews. Florida Weekly raved, "Susan Haefner...IS Rosemary Clooney. Not only does she look like a young Rosemary Clooney, but she sounds like her too!" The sterling review went on to call Marotta "marvelous, as he transforms into multiple people" in the wide variety of roles he plays throughout Clooney's life.

Originally set to close April 10, presales for Broadway's rock 'n' roll sensation "Million Dollar Quartet" are breaking box office records, so Florida Rep is pleased to announce both an extension to April 21 and ticket price increase to take effect on Feb. 15. Currently priced at $55 and $49, the single tickets will go up to $59 and $53 in the Historic Arcade Theatre. Patrons are encouraged to secure seats before Feb. 15 to lock into current pricing. "Million Dollar Quartet" is the true story of a jam session with Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley that changed music history.

Also set to extend is "Native Gardens" by Karen Zacarías, a hot new comedy that made American Theatre Magazine'slist of "Top 10 Most Produced Plays" last year. Playing in the ArtStage Studio Theatre to close Florida Rep's season, "Native Gardens" is now extended to May 19 due to overwhelming demand. This hilarious new comedy pits neighbor against neighbor in an all-out backyard turf war and will leave Southwest Florida audiences in stitches.

"It is unprecedented to announce three extensions at once," said Florida Rep Artistic Director Greg Longenhagen. "As we reach the halfway point in our season, I am so happy to see such demand for tickets. These three unique plays and musicals are striking a chord with audiences, and we are happy to be able to open up new blocks of tickets for each of them."

To reserve a ticket call the box office at (239) 332-4488 Monday- Saturday 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. To see the production schedule, visit Florida Rep online at www.FloridaRep.org.
