A band of eight men seduce, challenge, demand and swagger their way through this ingenious, organic and impressive choreography. In his much-awaited new production, Tero Saarinen sets out to shake up the prevailing definition of masculinity. At this truly unique premiere event, the Finnish National Opera orchestra will be conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, who is also responsible for the musical score.
In addition to Saarinen's go-to visual designer Mikki Kunttu, the team includes fashion designer Teemu Muurimäki, who won his style spurs during a lengthy stint on the international fashion scene.
Like the Saarinen choreography, Esa-Pekka Salonen's music oscillates between brutally aggressive and meditatively soft and minimalist. Violin virtuoso Leila Josefowicz takes to the stage to perform the solo to this award-winning violin concerto.
