Wrongful Death and Other Circus Acts
by Christopher Demos Brown
Directed by Stuart Meltzer
Jan 18 - Feb 4, 2018, Rehearsals begin 12/26/17

LAURA MENDES: 50's. A brazen and competitive lawyer who doesn't care about being nice or likable. She is exceptional at what she does and fully understands her success in a man's world- regardless if she is falling a part.

DARLA VAN BECK: 40's. A highly intelligent lawyer who is unafraid of her sexuality and crass humor. She knows how to play in the big leagues but doesn't necessarily enjoy it.

MARVIN DUNCAN: 30. Good looking, affable, eager to please, up-and-coming lawyer who is learning all the tricks to the trade. His goal is to, one day be a big fish in a big pond.

DEATH: Female, any age any ethnicity. Voluble and very charismatic. Must be in top physical shape. Acrobatic or circus skills a plus. The actress also plays three other roles in the play.

Dancing Lessons
by Mark St. Germain
Directed by Stuart Meltzer
March 8 - 25, 2018 Rehearsals begin 2/13/18

SENGA QUINN: 30's. A professional dancer who is at a crossroads in her life and is not particularly happy about it. She is sarcastic, witty and vulnerable. The role requires dancing.

EVER MONTGOMERY: 30's. A professor of Geo-sciences, high functioning on the Autism spectrum. He has an incredible use of language and child-like curiosity. The role requires dancing.

Note: Both actors need to be able to dance very well. There is a magical moment in the play when their horrible dancing turns into a lush, stunning Fred and Ginger-like performance.

Fun Home
Book and Lyrics by Lison Kron, Music by Jeanine Tesori.
Based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel
Director: Stuart Meltzer, Musical Director: Eric Alsford
April 12 - May 13 Rehearsals begin 3/20/18
**Additional call for children’s roles to be held at a later date**

ALISON: Alison Bechdel in her early 40s. The narrator of this story. Now a self-aware adult, she is able to reflect insightfully on her own life and her relationship with her father before his tragic death. Must be a strong singer who can move seamlessly in vocal quality from speech to song. Range = low E to light belt C sharp.

MEDIUM ALISON: (Early to mid-20s to play 19) - Alison Bechdel as a freshman at Oberlin college, discovering her sexuality. For an incredibly well-read, hyper-intelligent teenager, her uncertainty about who she is makes her socially awkward at times. Must be a strong singer who can move seamlessly in vocal quality from speech to song. Strong mix-belt to C and effortless mix to E.

SMALL ALISON: Alison Bechdel as a child, around 8 years old when we meet her. Precocious and opinionated. On the cusp of finding herself and forming her own views on how a girl her age should behave and dress. Seeking an actress who is confident and intelligent. Must be a strong singer who can move seamlessly in vocal quality from speech to song, natural sound, B to B.

BRUCE BECHDEL: (CAST. Actors will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary.) Alison's father. A high-school English teacher and funeral home director, who spends his spare time on the historic restoration of his home. A complex man with a hot temper as a result of years of repression. He can be caring and attentive to his children but is also quick to anger. Must be a strong singer who can move seamlessly in vocal quality from speech to song. Range = B to G.

HELEN BECHDEL: (CAST. Actors will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary.) Alison's mother. Frustrated and exhausted by her tumultuous marriage. She has spent her life trying to be a good mother and wife while turning a blind eye to the irreverent activities of her husband. Must be a strong singer who can move seamlessly in vocal quality from speech to song. Range = A flat to strong mixed E.

CHRISTIAN BECHDEL – Alison’s older brother, around 10 years old when we meet him. As the oldest of the three children he strives to be the leader, but is sometimes overshadowed by Alison’s strong personality. Seeking a singer (pre-pubescent) with a natural sound, good sense of harmony and pitch.

JOHN BECHDEL – Alison’s younger brother, around 6 years old when we meet him. Like most boys his age, he is full of energy with a quirky imagination. Looks up to his siblings. Seeking a singer with a natural sound, good sense of harmony and pitch.

JOAN: 19-22. A college student at Oberlin. She exudes a confident, sexual energy, with a dry sense of humor. Unlike Alison, Joan is very comfortable in her skin and openly identifies as a lesbian. Must be comfortable with harmony singing, alto lines.

ROY/MARK/PETE/BOBBY JEREMY: 18-24. A good looking, charismatic and charming man. Roy, a young man Bruce hires to do yard work; Pete, a mourner who visits the funeral home; Mark, a high school junior; Bobby Jeremy, the lead singer of a band in Alison’s imagination. Seeking a singer with a strong clean 70’s pop sound - to a B.
