ROBYN: Female, Caucasian, mid-late 50s. Urban, gritty, aloof but charismatic. A loner whose walls are high and whose secrets are large. Lives by her own rules. Longs to leave the past behind, settle down, and start over.

SHARON: Female, any ethnicity, mid-late 50s. Mid-western, warm and disarmingly open. Has lived a narrow fairly conformist life, and in the wake of her divorce has resigned herself to an equally unobtrusive loneliness. A misfit at heart whose never actually felt at home in Midwestern domesticity. Ferociously curious, funny, and not without surprising edge.

PUMPKIN: Black woman. Late 20’s/Early 30’s. Pretty in a plain way. Simple. Sweet. Practical, but a dreamer. Waitress, cook and caretaker of Paradise Club. A loving thing with a soft touch. Adores poetry.

BLUE: Black man. Mid -Late 30’s to early 40’s. Handsome. Mysterious. Sexy. Quiet danger. Aloof. A hard shell and a hard interior. Battling many demons. A gifted trumpeteer.

CORN: Black man. Late 40’s to Early 50’s. Slightly chubby. (aka Cornelius) Easygoing and Thoughtful. A real sweetheart with a weakness for love. The pianoman.

P-SAM: Black man. Mid/ Late 30’s. Busybody. Sweet-talker. (aka Percussion Sam) Hustler. Always eager for his next gig. The percussionist.

An epic hurricane threatens Miami. A mother and daughter ready themselves for the storm as Abuela takes shelter in a world of memory, music, and magic. A powerful tale of family and forgiveness, El Huracán reveals what can be rebuilt in the aftermath of life’s most devastating tempests––and what can never be replaced.

Valeria, 70’s. A former magicienne, Miranda’s grandmother, Ximena’s mom. Immigrated from Cuba in the 60's with her husband and young daughter. Fully bilingual (English/Spanish). She has advanced Alzheimer’s. Plays the same character in Part Two.

Ximena, 50’s. Valeria’s daughter and caretaker, Miranda’s mom. Immigrated from Cuba as a young child. Fully bilingual (English/Spanish). She’s exhausted. Also plays Ximena, 80’s, in Part Two.

Miranda, 20’s. A perpetual grad student, Valeria’s granddaughter, Ximena’s daughter. Funny. Born in Miami. Grew up mostly speaking English but speaks some Spanish. She’s lost. Also plays Miranda, 50’s, in Part Two.

Alicia/ Dr. Kempler. Valeria’s younger sister/ A neurologist. She has a mercurial quality. Also plays Val, 20’s, Miranda’s daughter, in Part Two.
Fernando 20’s. Miranda’s old family friend. Funny, handsome, but easy-going and grounded. Also plays Theo, 20’s, Ximena’s cousin’s son in Part Two. Fully bilingual (English/Spanish).

Separated from her twin brother in a shipwreck, Viola disguises herself as a man and falls in love with her new employer Orsino, who dotes on OIivia, who falls for Cesario, who’s really Viola. And that’s before Sebastian washes ashore in search of his missing sister. In director Carl Cofield’s vibrant Afro-futurist production, Shakespeare’s most wonderful romantic comedy brims with music and dances to the heartbeat of unrequited love.

Seeking: Actors representing a diversity of races and ethnicities for a music-inflected Afro-futurist production.

Olivia (mid 20’s – late 30’s) An African, African-American, Afro-Carribean, or Afro-Latinx countess, beautiful and rich. Graceful, regal, and expressive, she is adamant about not falling in love - until she meets Cesario.

Sebastian (mid 20’s -30’s) An African, African-American, Afro-Carribean, or Afro-Latinx man; Viola’s twin brother.

Maria (mid 30’s –mid 40’s) A woman of color. Olivia’s comedic gentlewoman. Clever, resourceful and in love with Sir Toby Belch.

Sir Toby Belch (40’s – 50’s) A man of color. Olivia’s riotous uncle. Falstaffian. A magnificent and comedic wit.

Sir Andrew Aguecheek (30’s – 40’s) A man of any ethnicity. A foolish and comedic knight upon whom Sir Toby is sponging.

Orsino (30’s) African, African-American, Afro-Carribean, or Afro-Latinx Duke of Illyria. Handsome, poetic and mercurial, full of passion.

Feste (30’s -40’s) An African, African-American, Afro-Carribean, or Afro-Latinx man or woman, Olivia’s fool. Extremely witty, excellent singer and musician, and a strong mover. Could play an instrument.

Fabian (30’s) A man of color. Servant of Olivia who plots revenge against Malvolio.
