Breakdown
Producers anticipate casting the production by January 7 REHEARSALS: We are scheduled to begin February 1. We intend to rehearse in 4 hour blocks, 4-6 blocks a week, on weeknight evenings and weekends. If you have daytime availability we may also utilize your availability to get ahead of schedule when possible. You'll need to submit specific availability in writing prior to casting so we can create a comprehensive schedule, and once submitted, we will not accept any additional conflicts. No more than three conflicts will be accepted during the rehearsal process. Please plan to submit basic availability (e.g. available evenings beginning at 6pm, not available Saturdays until 2pm) as well as specific individual conflicts (e.g. traveling the 3rd-5th, wedding on the 8th) at the time of your audition appointment. No rehearsal conflicts will be accepted during tech week: Thursday February 17-24. Kira/Clio: the Olivia Newton-John role from the movie; played to perfect parody by Kerry Butler on Broadway; must sing, move well, roller skate confidently; is fit, attractive and a true comedienne. Danny McGuire: the seasoned actor of the group; a mix of the character played by Gene Kelly and Sonny’s boss from the movie; must sing, move well and command the stage. Dancing and skating a plus. Also plays Zeus. The other artists are not merely supporting leads or ensemble but rather, all must be stars in their roles as Kira’s sisters, the Muses; Sirens and the mythic monsters (Cyclops, Medusa, Centaur), each dominating (or scene stealing) in such songs as “Evil Woman”, “Have You Never Been Mellow”, “I’m Alive” and “Strange Magic.” All must be excellent singers with ability to hold own in tight, rock ‘n roll, 80s harmony. All must dance/move very well. All should be able to roller skate or dance on skates.
