BREAKDOWN
Please note that all actors should be comfortable with conversational Spanish (they do not need to be fully bi-lingual - just need to have an understanding
about the play: Isadora finds the strength to stand up to her abusive husband Septimo when he forces the very pregnant Yolot to stay against her will. While Septimo makes plans for the baby, Isadora and Yolot devise one of their own. And as a pack of wolves closes in on the hacienda, Isadora must decide what price she'll pay for her own freedom. Wolf at the Door is the second part of a cycle of fairy tales Marisela is writing inspired by Latino folklore and mythology, following the river bride.
ISADORA
Early to mid 20s latinx. A wife first is pregnant, loses her baby. Struggles to stand up to her abusive husband. She can see past peoples filth. and in the end, she knows what she must do, for the greater good.
*Please not this character does gives birth on stage- actors should be comfortable with this action- we will be having a fight and intimacy choreographer.
YOLOT: Early to mid - 20s Latinx. the interloper: The Wolf. Strong with a bite. Wild. Animalistic. Can see past peoples filth. Pregnant *Please Note this character also gives birth. *Must move well with their bodies. This part will have partial nudity. Director and playwright will work with actor based on their comfort level. must be comfortable in bikini. fight and intimacy choreographer will be a part of the artistic process.
