BREAKDOWN
[QUANG] Male, 20s-30s. Asian. Handsome and strong, a leading man. Humorous and light-hearted. He isn't afraid to fight for what he believes in. These traits help him hide from his pain that he holds onto from the loss of his country. All roles require a level of comfortability with singing.
[TONG] Female, 20s - 30s, Asian. Blunt, beautiful, badass. Hides her loneliness that she feels in America behind a tough exterior. Comedic, but her humor is much more straightforward than Quang’s. All roles require a level of comfortability with singing.
[ASIAN GIRL/AMERICAN GIRL/THU/HUONG/AS CAST] Female, 35-50, Asian. Plays a variety of roles including Huong (Tong’s storytelling mother) and Thu (Quang’s wife that he left behind in Vietnam). Has a strong comedic energy and ability to switch between multiple roles. All roles require a level of comfortability with singing.
[ASIAN GUY/AMERICAN GUY/NHAN/KHUE/AS CAST] Male, 20s, Asian. Plays a variety of roles including Nhan (Quang's best friend) and Khue (Tong's brother). Has a strong comedic energy and ability to switch between multiple roles. All roles require a level of comfortability with singing.
[PLAYWRIGHT/GIAI/BOBBY/CAPTAIN CHAMBERS/AS CAST] Male, 30s - 40s, Asian. Plays a variety of roles, chiefly the Playwright who is the American son of Quang and Tong. Also portrays Bobby (Tong’s American soldier lover) and Giai (Tong’s desperate lover from Vietnam). Plays many of the American characters who are larger-than-life depictions. Has a strong comedic energy and ability to switch between multiple roles. All roles require a level of comfortability with singing.
