FRANKIE VALLI: 20s-early 30s. Prefer 5’9” or shorter. Has a strong tenor with sweet and strong falsetto and is able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli. Strong tenor to high A or Bb plus strong falsetto up to treble G. Charismatic and charming. Comfortable with narrative text and has a gritty side as well as a polished veneer. Comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies.
BOB GAUDIO: 20s-early 30s. Preferably tall. Strong tenor/baritenor voice, Has a strong high G. Comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies. Comfortable with narrative text. Ability to play piano a plus, but not necessary. An intelligent, sensitive, and introspective musical prodigy.
TOMMY DEVITO: 30s. Strong tenor/baritenor voice. Comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies. Comfortable with narrative text. Ability to play guitar a very strong plus. A natural-born leader with an appealing, bad-boy quality.
NICK MASSI: 30s. Strong bass/baritone voice, low E would be an asset. Comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies. Comfortable with narrative text. Ability to play bass a plus, but not necessary. A quiet dreamer who longs for life after The Four Seasons.
GYP DECARLO/JUDGE/ETC: Male, 45-65. Tough, mafioso type. A strong singer.
BOB CREWE/ETC: Male, 35-45. Intelligent and flamboyant – genius music producer and lyricist. An integral part of creating the magic of the Four Seasons.

JACK (Male, early 20s) Any ethnicity. Handsome, charismatic leader of the street kids who sell newspapers, aka the Newsies. A street-smart kid with an artistic soul hiding beneath the bluster. Earnest, everyone’s big brother, protective, pure in his desires for a better life but not at the expense of others. Has a great pop tenor voice and is very strong mover or dancer.
CRUTCHIE (Male, early 20s) Any ethnicity. He walks with the aid of a crutch due to a bad leg, but that doesn't hold him back from being right in the middle of any mischief. A real charmer and Jack’s best friend. Note: Actors with disabilities are encouraged to audition.
KATHERINE (Female, early 20s) Any ethnicity. The strong-willed daughter of Joseph Pulitzer. A model of old-fashioned spunk, smarts and opinions. Think of a young Rosalind Russell or Katherine Hepburn. Has a great pop/contemporary musical theater voice with a high belt. A STRONG TAPPER and good dancer.
DAVEY (Male 20-25) The brains of the resistance. Les’ strait-laced, bright big brother starts selling newspapers to help his family earn a living but becomes swept up in the fervor of the strike. A leader in his own right who is learning to use his voice to uplift others. Vocal range: D3-A4
JOSEPH PULITZER (Male, late 40s-mid 50s) A pompous businessman through and through, owns the World and is concerned solely with the bottom line. Katherine’s no-nonsense father, Pulitzer doesn’t sympathize with the strikers, but he does eventually – and grudgingly – respect Jack. Vocal range: C3- F4
MEDDA (Female, late 30s-late 40s) African American. A vaudeville star of the Bowery variety. Sexy, playful, tough when she needs to be but possess motherly affection towards the boys. Has a big voice and great comic delivery.

DONNY NOVITSKI (Piano): 24 years old, ruggedly handsome with Italian and Polish heritage. A piano prodigy, he is passionate about swing music and writing his own songs. Confident, hungry, driven -- shining with star quality. He carries the dark weight of wartime experiences and struggles to reacclimate back home. Excellent singer/musician. Baritone/tenor, B-flat 2 to B-flat 4. Any ethnicity.
JIMMY CAMPBELL (Saxophone): Late 20s to mid-30s, he is a gifted jazz reed player, predominantly saxophone and clarinet. Jimmy is very bookish, thin, and well put together. He is wisely studying law, having just returned from the Navy. He has a careful and guarded personality but is fiercely loyal to Donny and the band. While the text never gives him away, Jimmy is privately gay and committed to fighting injustices in whatever ways he can. Baritone, C3 to G-sharp 4. Any ethnicity.
DAVY ZLATIC (Bass): Late 20s to early 40s, he is a wiz on the upright bass. A recent Army veteran who served in the European theater and liberated Dachau, Davy is modeled heavily on Shakespeare’s lovable Falstaff. Can be boisterous and at times vulgar in his humor; drinks almost constantly and while his drinking lends a cheerful veneer to his personality, it covers a very dark center. Davy knows that he can use his humor and good-time jokes to keep him from falling into despair. Given his size and physical power, it should be apparent that if he were to become angered, he could do a lot of harm. Baritone, B2 to F-sharp 4. Any ethnicity.
NICK RADEL (Trumpet): Late 20s to early 40s, he is a genius trumpet player. A recent veteran of the Army who spent the last months of the European battles in a German prisoner-of-war camp, Nick is a man desperate for career and personal security. He is outrageously confident in his gifts as a musician and carries a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Nick has not yet been able to stop fighting for his life every day since returning to the home front. He prides himself on his musical abilities and sometimes has a hard time being a team player. Baritone, B2 to F4. Any ethnicity.
WAYNE WRIGHT (Trombone): Late 20s to late 30s, he is a gifted jazz trombone player and a veteran Marine lieutenant. Wayne manifests his war experiences in a severe case of obsessive compulsive disorder. He carries enormous tension in his body and mind and maintains an aloofness that hides his emotional turmoil. He is a man that can be very intimidating in his silence. High baritone, C3 to B-flat 4. Any ethnicity.
JOHNNY SIMPSON (Drums/Percussion): Mid-20s to late 30s, he is a drumming phenomenon. A returning Army private, he suffers from severe back pain due to an injury requiring three surgeries. He is therefore reliant on pain medication, which affects his mental clarity. He also shows signs of traumatic head injury with memory loss. But mostly this all combines to give Johnny an almost childlike and gentle personality. He is by no means stupid – he has very honest insight -but he carries a charming simplicity that is in contrast to his sharp and impressive musical skills. High baritone, B2 to G-sharp 4. Any ethnicity.
JULIA TROY: Mid-late 20s. Intelligent, probably bookish, with a nurturing sensibility. A gifted singer, but one without the drive to be a star. Her talents are personal to her and not showy, a means of expression and discovery. She is smart, honest, arid no one’s fool. Her star quality is born of her natural ability to simply tell the truth when singing; she is transcendent onstage. Not easily vulnerable and grieving her husband, killed in action. Soprano with strong belt, G3 to F-sharp 5. Any ethnicity.
JUNE ADAMS: 50s. Julia’s mother; hardworking, down to earth, loving. Has a natural and easy comedic sense about her but it is tied very closely to the disappointments in her life; a realist by nature, with a practical, almost atheistic bent. Powerful presence with big heart and tough side when needed. Alto, G3 to B4. Any ethnicity.

JENNA COATES: 25, Female Presenting, Any Race, Country Mezzo-Soprano. Picture Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves, etc. Daughter of Crystal and Harley and Rosemary's Granddaughter. An aspiring singer-songwriter from Harmony, Tennessee who's at the end of her rope trying to break into the music industry in Nashville. Lost on her journey and not a stranger to bad decisions, she returns home only to come face to face with her biggest challenge yet. Smart, determined, earnest, vulnerable and very human.
CRYSTAL COATES: Mid 40s to early 50s, Female Presenting, Any Race, Country Mezzo-Soprano. Picture Leanne Morgan, Reba McEntire, etc. Jenna's mother, Harley's wife and Rosemary's daughter. She's a protective mama bear, but will also give her daughter the real medicine she needs when it's necessary. She and Harley have found themselves in a rut since Jenna moved out and must now figure out how to reshape her world in order to thrive.
HARLEY COATES: Mid 40s to early 50s, Male Presenting, Any Race, Country Baritenor. Jenna's Father and Crystal's husband. A devoted, loving husband and father who started his own contracting company after the factories in town shut down twenty years ago. A bit lost and yearning for purpose and belonging, Harley struggles to find his center in his new life as an empty nester.
LIZ: Mid 20s, Female Presenting, Any Race, Country Mezzo/Alto. Jenna's best friend and Joe's wife. Tremendously fun loving and loyal, but also tough as nails when you cross her. Grieving the loss of her brother, Danny, and rebuilding his business, Liz re-examines her life as she confronts her identity and new priorities.
MAYOR JOE: 30s, Male Presenting, Any Race, Country Baritenor. Liz's husband. Recently elected Mayor of Harmony who believes this town deserves a reimagining. Inspired by the potential of the renovation and re-opening of his wife's new bar and the rededication of Main Street, Joe is a voice for positive change in Harmony.
DUSTIN: Mid 20s to 30, Male Presenting, Any Race, Country Baritenor. Army Veteran and Jenna's high school ex-boyfriend. Kind and patient with a quiet charm to him. He's had a hard time adjusting since being back from deployment and struggles with PTSD. Grieving the loss of his best friend and fellow soldier, Danny, Dustin keeps the demons away by investing and volunteering in the future of Harmony.
RUANN: 40s to 50s, Female Presenting, Any Race, Country Mezzo-Alto. Born and bred in Harmony and a lifer. She knows everyone and everyone's business, just ask her. She's live and let live, loves her town deeply and will roll up her sleeves for anyone in need.
BAILEY STONE: 40s to 50s, Female Presenting, Any Race, Country Mezzo-Alto. Picture Dolly Parton or any country music superstar with some seasoning on them. A living legend who can pack arenas yet remains down to earth and approachable. She's got advice for any situation ready at the go. This role may carry a double track – TBD.
