BREAKDOWN

TONI STONE

Storyline: This is the story of Toni Stone, the first woman to play professional baseball.

SEEKING:

[ALBERGA/ENSEMBLE] 50 to 60s years old, Black. ALBERGA is a young and sexy 64; a Jamaican businessman and Toni's eventual husband. He's in love with Toni's mind and drawn to her energy. Suave, bold, and charismatic. He knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it. Doubles with other characters in the ensemble of various ages, gender, and races.

[MILLIE/ENSEMBLE] 35 to 49 years old, Black man. Masculine. Toni's confidant and closest friend. A lady of Madame Mamie's Gentleman's Club. Funny, self-assured, won't take crap from anybody. She's a survivor, she's unapologetic. She has a gentle nature within her tough exterior that she's very selective about revealing. Doubles with other characters in the ensemble of various ages, gender and races.

[KING TUT/ENSEMBLE] 30 to 45 years old, Black man. The celebrity of the team. King has baseball in his blood. Looking for his next opportunity to join the major leagues and trying to hold on to his confidence and his hope that he will make it. He fears he won't. He has a stern sense of humor. Strong, physical, agile mover. Doubles with other characters in the ensemble of various ages, gender and races.

[STRETCH/ENSEMBLE] 25 to 35 years old, Black man. Catcher, team manager and coach of the Indianapolis Clowns. Stretch is the most talented catcher in the Negro League. Understands his team's strengths and weaknesses. Organized and methodical. He plays hard, and perhaps drinks a little. Strong, physical, agile mover. Doubles as other characters in the ensemble of various ages, genders and races.

[SPEC/ENSEMBLE] 25 to 39 years old, Black man. The smartest member of the team; professorial. While he is a great baseball player, he is probably better suited to become a doctor or a lawyer; but he was raised to love the game. Strong, physical, agile mover. Doubles with other characters in the ensemble of various ages, genders and races.

[WOODY/ENSEMBLE] 25 to 35 years old, Black man. A Casanova that sometimes fails to arouse. Always looking to poke fun at someone or something. He is confident he is the best left-handed pitcher in the league. Athletic. Strong, physical and agile mover. Doubles with other characters in the ensemble of various ages, gender and races.
