BREAKDOWN

CAST BREAKDOWN 2019-20 SEASON

WOMEN IN JEOPARDY
by Wendy MacLeod
Director: Christopher Schario
Contract dates: September 30 thru October 27, 2019
Performance dates: October 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 2019

ALL ACTORS NEED GREAT COMIC CHOPS FOR THIS PROJECT

MARY - 40’s, has a college age child, divorced, a librarian, “still” pretty, politely looking for the positive side of things, a peacemaker, a bit of a worrier and stickler for details, an English major in college.

JO - 40’s, has a college age child, divorced, best friends with Liz and Mary, a publicist, sardonic. CAST

LIZ - 40’s, has a college age child divorced. Divorced, she is dating Jackson. Totally “boy crazy” over him, she is following her libido potentially off a cliff, but who cares because it feels so great to have sex again!

AMANDA - 19, Liz’s daughter, an exceptionally pretty college student with a “porn star body” whose SAT’s were in the single digits. Spoiled. If she could, she would probably be an “influencer” with her own u-tube following

TRENNER - 19, a snowboarder, sweet but not too bright. Think Keanu Reeves in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

JACKSON/ SGT. KIRK SPONSÜLLAR - 40’s, He plays Liz’s new “odd” boyfriend Jackson and the diligent Sgt who is trying to solve the murder case. Jackson is a very successful dentist with a dark sense of humor, bordering on “creepy” in the similar style of Christopher Walken. The Sgt is a typical strong/silent hardnosed detective type with a crush on Mary.

Both British dialect and Standard American Speech are used in this adaptation. Show requires versatile actors who make playful choices and are good with language. All AEA roles (Scrooge, Bob Cratchit/Marley, Xmas Past/Mrs. Cratchit) are CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary.

ALICE – 50s CAST, She’s been married 25 years, she wonders if her husband is still sexually attracted to her, and she wonders what happened to the young woman she remembers being but no longer sees in the mirror.

HENRY – 50s CAST, Married 25 years, he enjoys the comfort of a long-term relationship. People take his sense of responsibility and steadiness for granted and he often feels overlooked and underappreciated.

I AND YOU
by Lauren Gunderson
Director: Christopher Schario
Contract dates: February 24 thru March 22, 2020
Performance dates: March 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 2020

CASTING NOTE: THE RACE OF THESE CHARACTERS IS NON-SPECIFIC. THE PLAYWRIGHT IS CLEAR THAT THE ONLY ESSENTIALITY IS THAT THE CHARACTERS NOT BE THE SAME RACE. ACTORS OF ALL ETHNICITY SHOULD APPLY FOR EITHER ROLE.

CAROLINE –17. Smart, quick, sarcastic, snarky (all to protect her vulnerability) but ultimately likable. She is emotionally available and vulnerable underneath it all, but she has to protect herself and uses her anger to fight off the struggle with mortality and her ongoing illness. She can no longer attend school due to health concerns and has created a creative world of her own at home.

ANTHONY –17. A popular, intelligent, patient, easy-going, charismatic high school student, Athletic, academically successful (sort of a nerd with studies) and a musician with a passion for jazz, he still has an awkwardness around girls. Caroline, snide but admiringly, calls him “a senator.” He is emotionally mature for his age, able to handle, deflect, challenge and penetrate Caroline’s snarkyness and armor.
