Performances to take place at the Kavli Theatre, Bank of America Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Thousand Oaks, CA. Performers of all races and genders encouraged to audition.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

BREAKDOWN

Harold Hill- CAST

Marian Paroo: 30’s The stuffy town librarian and music teacher. She is an attractive young lady who doesn’t fit in with the locals and eventually falls in love with Harold Hill. Lyric soprano.

Mayor Shinn: A blustery politician who is all too “self-important” and full of malapropisms. Strong comedic chops required.

Eulalie Mackecknie: Shinn Mayor Shinn's peacock of a wife. A serial gossiper and snob, she has trouble keeping her opinions to herself. Strongly comedic role.

Mrs. Paroo: 60’s An Irish widow and mother to Marian and Winthrop. She plots to find a good man for Marion.

Marcellus Washburn: 30’s-40-s. Harold's chummy old friend and former con man. He now lives in River City and is trying to settle down. Comedic character man role.

Charlie Cowell: 30’s-50’s A traveling salesmen who is on to Harold Hill's schemes and tirelessly attempts to prove to everyone the true con man behind Harold Hill.

THE QUARTET: 30’s-50’s All must be excellent with harmony singing. All have speaking roles and comedic sensibilities:

Ewart Dunlop: A member of the quartet formed by Harold Hill with a 2nd tenor barbershop voice.

Oliver Hix A baritone in the barbershop quartet formed by Hill.

Jacey Squires The highest tenor in the barbershop quartet.

Olin Britt The bass of the barbershop quartet formed by Harold Hill.

TEENS/YOUNG ADULTS:

Tommy Djilas -late teens An attractive, young man from the wrong side of town. He is secretly courting Zaneeta, the mayor’s daughter. Excellent ballet technique and strong acting abilities.

Zaneeta Shinn The Mayor's daughter who is in love with Tommy. Sweet and outgoing. Appears to be daffy at times. Comedic role with excellent ballet technique.

CHILDREN:

Winthrop Paroo 7-10? Marian's baby brother, he is very shy because of a noticeable lisp. He is brought out of his shell by Harold Hill.

Amaryllis 7-10 A bratty yet sensitive female piano student of Marion Paroo who has a crush on Winthrop.

Gracie Shinn The Mayor?s youngest spunky daughter.

MALE AND FEMALE ENSEMBLE: A town full of excellent singers and dancers with excellent ballet technique. Strong technically trained dancers with equally strong musical theater dance training. All men must be able to partner/lift.
